ELECTRONIC VOTER GUIDE: The League of Women Voters of Saratoga County is pleased to announce Vote411.org, an electronic voter guide is now available. Informatio­n may be accessed on computers, tablets, and mobile phones. Candidate informatio­n includes biographic­al informatio­n and responses to questions posed by the League, as well as links to candidates’ social media and campaign websites. Candidates who have not yet submitted their informatio­n are listed with “Candidate Has Not Responded;” their responses will be posted as soon as the candidates provide the informatio­n. There is also an informativ­e video comparing the current and proposed charter for Saratoga Springs. All of this can be accessed online at www. vote411.org in an easy-to-use electronic format. Citizens can enter their addresses, compare candidate informatio­n and print a customized sample ballot. Informatio­n is also available on our website, www.lwvsaratog­a. In addition to the candidate responses videos of Candidate Forums are posted there as soon as they are completed. Other election informatio­n, including registrati­on, absentee ballots, and early voting informatio­n is also available on the league website.

BROWN BREAD SALE: Simpson United Methodist Church, 1089 Rock City Road, Rock City Falls (.4mi s of Rte. 29) is once again hosting its pre-Thanksgivi­ng Steamed Brown Bread and Bake Sale. Traditiona­l brown bread includes flours, molasses, raisins, and buttermilk, and is steamed in cans in water bath over the stove for three hours. COLLECTION CANCELED: Post 36 of the Jewish War Veterans of Saratoga County regrets to announce that its annual Warm Coats for Veterans collection has been cancelled due to the Covid-19 Virus. The Coast drive will resume in November, 2021. During thepast 6 years, Post 36 has been successful­ly collecting winter coats, hats, gloves and scarves for distributi­on to both the Men’s and Women’s Vet Houses in Ballston Spa. Post 36 of the Jewish War Veterans thanks everyone who has supported our mission. We are grateful and look forward to seeing you in2021. PHOTOGRAPH­Y SHOW CALL FOR ENTRIES: For photograph­ers who enjoy taking pictures of nature or of people enjoying nature, entries for a photograph­y show that will be highlighti­ng the beauty and the mission of Wilton Wildlife Preserve& Park are being sought. The entry deadline is November 30,2020 and up to four entries will be accepted per person. There will be prizes awarded for the following categories; Best in Show, Best Nature in Winter, Best featuring Conservati­on, Best featuring Education, Best featuring Recreation, Best Nature in Autumn, Best Animal Shot, Best Karner blue butterfly, and Best under-13. GREAT PUMPKIN CHALLENGE: The Saratoga Bridges 2020Great Pumpkin Challenge is going virtual. This popular community event features 5K and 10K races with proceeds benefiting the organizati­on’s essential services. Saratoga Bridges invites the community to run, walk and move “together but apart” in this year’s Great Pumpkin Challenge. By going virtual, participan­ts can complete the 5Kand 10Kby running, jogging or walking anywhere and anytime between Oct. 17 and 31. Although there is no official course this year, participan­ts can stay on the 2019 course in the Saratoga State Park and look for the designated mile markers. A map of this route can be found online at https://bit. ly/2SOK1a1. Otherwise, www. mapmyride.com provides alternativ­e routes. Participan­ts are encouraged to drive a route first to check the safety of the shoulders and sight lines and to follow social distancing policies and requiremen­ts.
