ART IS AN MARKET: The beloved “Artisan Market” at Brookside Museum will be returning in 2020, running from “Small Business Saturday” Nov. 28 through Dec.24 at at 6 Charlton

St. in Ballston Spa. The market will feature only handcrafted products created by local artisans. Everything from natural soaps and lotions to unique ornaments and jewelry to scrumptious syrups and eatables – quite simply the best our community has to offer. The 2020 hours are noon to 4 p.m. on Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays. All money raised by the Artisan Market will fund Saratoga County History Center public programming and collection maintenance, ensuring that futu of Saratogians, as well as people from around the world, will be able to learn about and enjoy our amazing, historic region.

BASKETBALL PROGRAM: Basketball is Back at the Rec! The Saratoga Springs Recreation Department is pleased to announce the return of two of its popular basketball programs, and even more excited to share that we will be back at the Recreation Center! Both the Parent/ Child Tiny B’ball for ages 3-5 and Intro to Basketball for Grades K-1 will begin Saturday, November 7th. Fees for Tiny B’Ball are $50 for Saratoga Springs City residents and $60 for NonCity residents. Fees for Intro to Basketball are$60 for Saratoga Springs City residents and $80 for Non- City residents. Registration for Saratoga Springs City residents begins Monday, October 26th. Registration for all begins Monday, November 2nd. Spaces are limited to comply with safety and social distancing guidelines. Volunteer Coaches are needed for Intro to Basketball. ELECTRONIC VOTER GUIDE: The League of Women Voters of Saratoga County is pleased to announce Vote411.org, an electronic voter guide is now available. Information may be accessed on computers, tablets, and mobile phones. Candidate information includes biographical information and responses to questions posed by the League, as well as links to candidates’ social media and campaign websites. Candidates who have not yet submitted their information are listed with “Candidate Has Not Responded;” their responses will be posted as soon as the candidates provide the information. There is also an informative video comparing the current and proposed charter for Saratoga Springs. All of this can be accessed online at www. vote411.org in an easy-touse electronic format. Citizens can enter their addresses, compare candidate information and print a customized sample ballot. Information is also available on our website, www. lwvsaratoga. In addition to the candidate responses videos of Candidate Forums are posted there as soon as they are completed. Other election information, including registration, absentee ballots, and early voting information is also available on the league website.

BROWN BREAD SALE: Simpson United Methodist Church, 1089 Rock City Road, Rock City Falls (.4 mi s of Rte. 29) is once again hosting its pre-Thanksgiving Steamed Brown Bread and Bake Sale. Traditional brown bread includes flours, molasses, raisins, and buttermilk, and is steamed in cans in water bath over the stove for three hours. COLLECTION CANCELED: Post 36 of the Jewish War Veterans of Saratoga County regrets to announce that its annual Warm Coats for Veterans collection has been cancelled due to the Covid-19 Virus. The Coast drive will resume in November, 2021. During the past 6 years, Post 36 has been successfully collecting winter coats, hats, gloves and scarves for distribution to both the Men’s and Women’s Vet Houses in Ballston Spa. Post 36 of the Jewish War Veterans thanks everyone who has supported our mission. We are grateful and look forward to seeing you in 2021. PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW CALL FOR ENTRIES: For photographers who enjoy taking pictures of nature or of people enjoying nature, entries for a photography show that will be highlighting the beauty and the mission of Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park are being sought. The entry deadline is November 30, 2020 and up to four entries will be accepted per person. There will be prizes awarded for the following categories; Best in Show, Best Nature in Winter, Best featuring Conservation, Best featuring Education, Best featuring Recreation, Best Nature in Autumn, Best Animal Shot, Best Karner blue butterfly, and Best under-13. Entries should be submitted via email to info@wiltonpreserve.org with the following information; attached photograph files saved as jpeg, name, address, phone number, email, title of each submission, age if under 13. All work should be original and have been taken at the Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park. This year the selected photographs will be displayed virtually, through a virtual Photography Gallery.

NONPROFIT OPPORTUNITY: The Dockstader Charitable Trust is seeking applications from notfor-profit organizations for projects that benefit the residents of the Galway Central School District.
