The Malta Ridge United Methodist Church Election Day Chili Meal is back, on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at the Church located at 729 Malta Avenue Extension, in Malta Ridge. Ellms Family Farm is launching a new fall themed attraction. The Pumpkin Glow & Light Show Drive-Thru is an enchanting Halloween experience that features a pumpkin wonderland with thousands of hand carved illuminate­d jack o’lanterns. Guests are invited to be immersed in the magic fromthe safety and comfort of their own vehicle.

The Drive-Thru experience boasts single pumpkin carvings to larger than life dazzling light displays. Ellms Family Farm has partnered with master carvers that are bringing all of the Halloween spirit to life. In addition to marveling at the masterpiec­es created by talented artists, guests will have the opportunit­y to be able to enjoy all the Ellms Farms fall snacks they know and love, by preselecti­ng and prepaying for tasty fall themed treats, food & beverages, again to be enjoyed from your vehicle. On Saturday, November 7, the Annual Ham Harvest Supper will be continuous­ly served from 4to 6pm at Old Saratoga Reformed Church at the corner of Pearl and Burgoyne Streets in Schuylervi­lle. This year it is a drive through dinner only. The menu is: Baked ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, squash, green beans, Dutch Kraut, roll, and homemade apple crisp. Price for adults is $12.00, $6.00for children 5-12. Take-outs are the only option. Reservatio­ns are recommende­d by calling 518-695-6638(or the church at 518- 695-3479, M-W-F, 9am-12noon.) HORSESHOE TOUR: The Hudson Mohawk Industrial Gateway will offer its annual “Origins of the Modern Horseshoe Tour” again this year. Henry Burden of Troy was the first person in history to make horseshoes by machine, and by the Civil War his mills were producing 51million shoes a year. The tour begins at the Burden Iron Works Museum with an overview of Henry Burden and his developmen­t of machines to make horseshoes. Afterwards, participan­ts will be led on an optional hike to the site of the famous Burden water wheel. This walk involves a fairly active climb, so sensible walking shoes and weather-appropriat­e clothing are an absolute must. CONVOY FOR TOTS: The seventh annual Convoy for Tots - the Capital Region Toys for Tots campaign’s single largest donation intake event is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 8 and will travel from the Ballston Spa High School campus at 220Ballsto­n Ave. in Ballston Spa to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center parking lot on Route 50in Saratoga Springs. This year, the public is invited to participat­e in a toy drop-off from 9to 10:30a.m. at Ballston Spa High School, prior to the convoy’s departure at approximat­ely 10:45a.m. This donation opportunit­y is new this year, created specifical­ly for those who would prefer to donate at an outdoor event. As always, Toys for Tots collection boxes will be set up at various local businesses throughout the Capital Region in the coming weeks for anyone looking tomake a donation in this manner. Additional­ly, several emergency response agencies will have collection boxes available at their stations. Capital Region Toys for Tots accepts donations of new, unwrapped toys, as well as monetary donations.
