Salon 8 celebrates recent location from Vermont
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. » New local business Salon 8 recently relocated to the Spa City, making its debut within the local community.
Originally founded in Wells, Vt. more than a decade ago, Salon 8 reopened over the summer at its new home in Saratoga Springs.
Here, owner- operator Nicole Loscalzo aims to offer a personalized and relaxed salon experience to clients from near and far.
While Salon 8 is still serving many clients who travel from Vermont, Loscalzo is also welcoming new local clients into her chair.
The small salon is set up to serve just one client at a time, and Loscalzo provides all services herself.
Salon 8 primarily focuses on hair coloring services - including single-process color, dimensional color, balayage and correctional color - along with haircuts, for women only.
A Washington County native, Loscalzo previously lived in the south, where she started her career in cosmetology, before becoming a small business owner in Vermont, and now starting her latest chapter in Saratoga Springs.
Loscalzo has nearly 20 years of experience in the hair industry. While furloughed from her job as a flight attendant after 9/11, Loscalzo went to beauty school on a whim.
At the time she never thought it would become her life’s work, but it certainly has.
Loscalzo is passionate about her profession. “It’s definitely like an art to me, it’s not a job at all. It’s a creative outlet,” she said.
“I’m lucky to do what I love,” she continued. “It never feels like work. It’s always fun, and sometimes a
challenge, but always enjoyable.”
What she loves the most is being able to make women feel better and look better everyday.
Along with her talents, Loscalzo’s personality is part of why her customers choose Salon 8. “My clients really like me because I’m very honest,” she said. “I won’t do anything I don’t think looks good.”
Looking ahead, Loscalzo’s plan for the future of Salon 8 is to further establish her business within the Saratoga Springs community, and build lasting relationships with her clients.
Salon 8, located at 4 Loughberry Rd. in Saratoga Springs, is open Monday through Thursday by appointment only.
In addition to having just one customer in the salon at a time, Salon 8 is taking COVID-19 precautions such as mask wearing, temperature checks and frequent sanitization.
