No fans allowed at Gillette Stadium through 2020
Gillette Stadium officials announced Monday the stadium will not host any fans through the end of 2020 due to concerns related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The Patriots and New England Revolution will continue playing without crowds for the remainder of their home games. The announcement followed weeks of officials collaborating with the Massachusetts Reopening Advisory board and consulting with infectious disease experts. Half of the NFL games played this week included a limited crowd capacity.
The Pats are scheduled to kick off Monday night at the Jets. They have four home games left on their schedule: Baltimore (Nov. 15), Arizona ( Nov. 29), Buffalo (Dec. 28) and New York Jets (Jan. 3).
The officials’ statement read: “We have recently been informed that the Governor’s Executive Order prohibiting large capacity venues from opening to the public will remain in force for the remainder of the 2020 football and soccer seasons.
“We understand that the advisory board, Governor Baker and Lt. Governor Polito made this decision with the health and safety of the community in mind. Still,
we know that this decision will be disappointing to the friends and family members of our respective teams and countless Patriots and Revolution Season TicketMembers who were eager to attend games this season.
“As we turn our focus to 2021, we will continue to work closely with the advisory board to safely reopen our building. We look forward to welcoming Patriots and Revolution fans back home to Gillette Stadium upon being granted approval next year.”
