Capital Region teeters on ‘yellow zone’
According to the New York State COVID-19 data dashboard, the Capital Region has a positive percentage rate of 2.0% and a seven- day rolling average of 2.3%, as of Monday morning. The state site also shows 139 people hospitalized across the Capital Region.
Albany County Executive Dan McCoy confirmed 46 new positive COVID-19 cases on Monday. Encompassed within the new cases are 41 people without a clear source of infection at present, four with close contact to other positive cases and one healthcare worker or resident of a congregate setting.

Restaurant on Wolf Road in Colonie on Nov. 15 between 10:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. that patrons may have been exposed to COVID-19 positive employee. Also, anyone who was at the Tipsy Moose at 261 New Scotland Avenue in Albany on Nov. 10 or Nov. 11 from 5 p.m. to midnight either day may have been exposed to a COVID-19 positive staffer.
The county has 824 active cases and 2,107 people under mandatory quarantine.
There were two new hospitalizations. The total hospitalized is 41, with 11 patients in the ICU.
According to the latest figures on the state data dashboard, Saratoga County saw 29 new cases and 21 in Rensselaer County.
Looking at area schools, Cohoes Middle School confirmed one new case Sunday. The Lansingburgh Central School District announced two new positive cases Sunday involving two staffmembers at Turnpike Elementary School and two additional staff members who work at the District Office building, both buildings have been closed until Nov. 30.
Over the weekend, Averill Park Central School District confirmed two new positive cases, one high school and one middle school student, neither of whom has been in either school building since Nov. 6.
Rensselaer City School District also confirmed two new cases, a second-grade student who has not been in the building since Oct. 15 and a ninth-grade student who has not been in the building since Oct. 28.
The Saratoga Springs City School District confirmed a positive case involving a member of the Lake Avenue Elementary School.
On Sunday, Shenendehowa Central School District confirmed two positive cases associated with Karigon Elementary School. That comes following one person testing positive at Acadia Middle School and High School East last Friday, although the High School East case hasn’t been in school since Nov. 10.
In addition, Sunday, Ballston Spa Central School District confirmed a student from Milton Terrace Elementary and a staff member from the Middle School have tested positive for coronavirus. For Milton Terrace, the impact is offset by the fact that all elementary schools are fully remote this week due to parent-teacher conferences. However, 14 students and five adults will still be required to quarantine through Dec. 2.
