VIRTUAL HOLIDAY AUCTION: Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs presents a Virtual Holiday Auction from Nov. 27 through Dec. 6. Consider bidding on one or several of the many handmade artisanal goods, specialty items, and experiences! A link to the auction is available online at www. waldorfsaratoga.org. The auction will culminate in an exciting live Zoom event at 7 p.m. on Dec. 5.
VIRTUAL TURKEY TROT: This year’s Christopher Dailey Memorial 5K Turkey Trot will be virtual. Participants can run or walk wherever they are, and can complete the 5K anytime throughout the long Thanksgiving weekend. All proceeds from the event will support the Christopher Dailey Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting children in the Saratoga Community. Please join us for this community event as we mark our 19th annual memorial for Chris, this year with a virtual twist! STORYTIME WITH SANTA: Storytime with Santa is a virtual event for children that will not be able to visit with Santa this holiday season due to Covid-19. The Saratoga Santa will be telling stories, singing songs and reading books to the audience. The event starts at 9 a.mon Saturday,
Dec. 12 and can be viewed on that day or anytime after that atwww.sheltersofsaratoga.org. Tickets are free with optional donation. Sponsorships available. Proceeds from the event help members of our community who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness find shelter, support and permanent housing.
PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW CALL FOR ENTRIES: For photographers who enjoy taking pictures of nature or of people enjoying nature, entries for a photography show that will be highlighting the beauty and the mission of Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park are being sought. The entry deadline is November 30, 2020 and up to four entries will be accepted per person. There will be prizes awarded for the following categories; Best in Show, BestNature in Winter, Best featuring Conservation, Best featuring Education, Best featuring Recreation, Best Nature in Autumn, Best Animal Shot, Best Karner blue butterfly, and Best under-13. Entries should be submitted via email to info@wiltonpreserve.org with the following information; attached photograph files saved as jpeg, name, address, phone number, email, title of each submission, age if under 13. All work should be original and have been taken at the Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park. This year the selected photographs will be displayed virtually, through a virtual Photography Gallery.

CLAYFEST: Saratoga Clay Arts Center is pleased to present its first annual holiday invitational exhibition, CLAYFEST, our way of celebrating the holiday season with a compilation of incredible functional and decorative works and jewelry by clay artists from across the country. CLAYFEST will be on exhibit through the holidays in Saratoga Clay Art Center’s beautiful Schacht Gallery and in the online shop from November 21, 2020 – January 16, 2021. The show will go live online as well. Participating artists include Nolan Baumgartner, Hayne Bayless, Adam Chau, Bethany Cohen, Dawn Dishaw, Alexandra Fitzgerald, Steven Hill, Cheyenne Mallo, Jess Palmer, Darren Prodger, Don Reynolds, Zoey Scheler, Melanie Sherman, Wayne Smith, Mike Stumbras and John Townley. SARATOGA NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK WINTER HOURS: Transition to winter hours of operation will begin at Saratoga National Historical Park on Tuesday, Dec. 1. Beginning Dec. 1, the park’s tour road will be closed until April 1. Winter weather may cause an earlier closure or delay opening. Please check the park’s website or social media for updates. The Visitor Center will remain closed throughout the winter. Please bring water and snacks as none are available in the park. A portable toilet is located in the main lower parking lot. We encourage visitors to recreate responsibly by taking all trash and pet waste with them. Winter is a great time to discover the beauty of the battlefield, bird watch, look for deer, or enjoy the stillness of a snow covered walk. Grounds will be open sunrise to sunset for hiking, walking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. TUNES IN YOUR FEET: Introduction to Percussive Dance with Nic Gareiss, 7 p.m. Four Consecutive Tuesdays - January 5th, 12th, 19th, & 26th, online via Zoom. This handson workshop for beginning dancers will introduce you to some of these gestures that you can use to make music with your feet. The workshop will be taught on the Zoom internet platform. PARKING GARAGE OPEN: The Saratoga Springs City Center announced the opening of the new City Center Parking Facility.The new facility, located between Maple Avenue and High Rock Avenue, features secure covered parking for more than 620 vehicles along with a pedestrian bridge over Maple Avenue that leads into the City Center, four electric car charging stations, two green spaces and a rooftop area that can be utilized for parking and convention related events. Additionally, the garage has a security guard on premise during evening hours. The City Center Parking Facility offers a pay per park system, through which the first hour of parking is free. Each additional hour is $1, withamaximumof $15 per day. However, in an effort to help downtown Saratoga Springs restaurants and retail businesses, during the challenge of a pandemic this holiday season, the
City Center will offer visitors four hours of complimentary parking on a daily basis until Jan. 1. A limited number of yearly parking passes are now available for purchase from the Saratoga Springs City Center. Yearly parking pass holders will receive benefits such as covered parking, electric charging stations, video surveillance and overnight security on site. ARTISANMARKET: The beloved “ArtisanMarket” at Brookside Museum will be returning in 2020, running from“Small Business Saturday” Nov. 28 through Dec. 24 at at 6 Charlton
St. in Ballston Spa. The market will feature only handcrafted products created by local artisans. Everything from natural soaps and lotions to unique ornaments and jewelry to scrumptious syrups and eatables – quite simply the best our community has to offer. The 2020 hours are noon to 4 p.m. on Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays. All money raised by the Artisan Market will fund Saratoga County History Center public programming and collectionmaintenance, ensuring that future generations of Saratogians, as well as people from around the world, will be able to learn about and enjoy our amazing, historic region.
TEN BROECK MANSION HOLIDAY HOUSE: The Ten Broeck Mansion, home of the Albany County Historical Association, announces its Holiday House 2020 schedule. Shimmering lights, festive trees and bright garlands inside and out set the scene at the Ten Broeck Mansion, a historic house museum which welcomes the community as a place tomake family memories today. Tours with timed tickets are on Saturdays and Sundays from noon until 2:30 pm from
December 5-20. For the health and safety of all visitors, indoor admission is by timed tickets, advance purchase only. Tickets are available via the ACHA’s website www.tenbroeckmansion.org, Eventbrite, or Facebook. Walk-through tours of groups of 5 or less feature docents to share information about holidays in the past, and the history of the Ten Broeck Mansion. Adults $5. Children and ACHA members free. New this year, the ACHA has free take-home ornament kits via its outdoor garden educational kiosk. Children may bring completed ornaments to hang on a community tree on display in the Mansion. The community is invited to bring canned goods or boxed cereal or pasta, which the ACHA will distribute to a local food pantry. Also new this year is a Pop-up Porch Sale, featuring wreaths designed and made by local garden clubs and artisans. All proceeds support the ACHA’s education programming. Locally- made artisanal gifts and ornaments and new historic embroidery kits available. Pop-up Porch Sale hours are Fridays-Sundays, noon-3 pm, December 4-20. YOUTH BASKETBALL PROGRAM: Basketball is Back at the Rec! The Saratoga Springs Recreation Department is pleased to announce the return of two of its popular basketball programs, and even more excited to share that we will be back at the Recreation Center! Both the Parent/ Child Tiny B’ball for ages 3-5 and Intro to Basketball for Grades K-1 will begin Saturday, November 7th. Fees for Tiny B’Ball are $50 for Saratoga Springs City residents and $60 for NonCity residents. Fees for Intro toBasketball are$60 for Saratoga Springs City residents and $80 for Non- City residents.
