Saratoga Springs-Solomon B. Wise, 99, of Saratoga Springs, NY and Naples, FL died peacefully January 13, 2021. Born in Beverley, MA Feb. 23, 1921 he was the son of the late Joseph Wise and Rose Tarlow Wise. He was a graduate of Beverley High School and enlisted in the US Navy during WW 2. After being honorably discharged from the military, Sol moved to Gloversvil­le, NY to start his leather embossing business. That same year (1946) he married a Gloversvil­le girl (Betty Mamber) to whom he was married 67 years. Betty passed away in 2014. They lived a wonderful life together. Sol was a very active member of the Jewish communitie­s in which he lived, as well as in the communitie­s at large. He served as president of the Knesseth Israel Synagogue in Gloversvil­le as well as a board of directors member and a member of several committees. He was the chairman of the Jewish cemetery committee for 37 years. He was on the Board of Directors of Mountain Valley Hospice, the American Cancer Society, and the Eccentric Club. Sol was blessed with a beautiful voice and a very deep understand­ing of his Jewish faith. He spoke the languages and assisted in services and events when he was called upon. He loved shing, working on his lawn, gardening, golf, the ocean, walking the beach in Naples, and to travel with his wife. Most of all he loved being a husband, father, grandfathe­r and patriarch of many cousins. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him and loved him. Survivors include two children, William Wise, of Las Vegas, NV and Rochelle Gorgos (William) of Saratoga Springs, NY, an “adopted daughter” Rosa Naveh of Israel, and Amber Wise of Las Vegas, NV. He leaves behind two grandchild­ren whom he adored, Jody Lasky in Portland, OR and Andrew Lasky in Longmont, CO. There are several nieces, nephews and cousins in his extended family. A private graveside service will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021 at the Knesseth Israel Synagogue Cemetery. Contributi­ons may be made in Solomon’s memory to Knesseth Israel Synagogue, 34 E.
