Area’s first Amazon 4-star store open for business at Crossgates Mall
ALBANY, N.Y. » Capital Region residents can now shop from Amazon at their local mall, with the opening of the area’s first Amazon 4-star store.
Amazon 4-star, a chain of stores featuring toprated products on Amazon. com, opened its doors on Wednesday at Crossgates Mall in Albany.
This is the second Amazon 4-star in New York state and the 28th location nationwide. The first opened in New York City in September 2018.
Amazon 4-star is a new physical store that makes it fun and easy for customers to shop and discover products they’ll love, a press release from the company said. The store carries highly rated products from the top categories across all of Amazon.com including devices, consumer electronics, kitchen, home, toys, books, games and more. Everything in-store is rated four stars and above by customers, or is a top seller, or is new and trending on Amazon.com.

Throughout the store there are features like “Trending Around Albany,” “Creative Activities for Kids,” and “Most Wished For on Amazon. com,” along with customer review cards with quotes from actual customer reviews. These are designed to make customers feel like they are getting a personal assessment or recommendation from a friend.
Digital price tags alongside every product show the price and Prime price, as well as Prime member savings, average star rating and the total number of reviews a product has received. Customers who aren’t already Prime members can easily sign up for a free 30-day trial and instantly receive the Amazon. com price in store.
To ensure a clean and safe shopping environment, Amazon is following CDC guidelines and have implemented a number of safety measures across all Amazon 4-star stores, including social distancing and enhanced cleaning protocols, temperature checks for all associates, mandatory face coverings for associates, making masks available for custom- ers, installing plexiglass barriers in certain locations, occupancy monitoring, modified hours and more.
The new Amazon 4-star in Crossgates Mall, located at 1 Crossgates Mall Rd. in Albany, is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. The store is on the mall’s upper level, near Forever 21.
