MICHAEL K. FITZPATRICK
Michael K. Fitzpatrick (“Fitz”) passed away peacefully at his home in McKinney, Texas on August 8, 2020 with his loving wife and caregiver Jackie by his side. Mike suffered with Alzheimer’s in his last years but died unexpectedly from coronavirus. He was born on November 1, 1944 in Saratoga Springs, New York. He grew up in Saratoga, graduating from St. Peter’s Academy (Class of 1962). He attended SUNY Canton where he met Jackie, the love of his life. He obtained his MBA from Southern Methodist University in 1990. His career in hotel/restaurant management, leadership, consulting, and franchising took him all over the country. Mike moved over 16 times, through 10 states after leaving Saratoga, but Saratoga was always home in Mike’s heart. He was a lifelong member of Ducks Unlimited, Rotary Club and also served on several boards, including Tahoe Forest Hospital in Truckee, California. Mike was a true “people person” making lifelong friends everywhere he went. He loved hunting, golng, telling jokes, music, dancing, crossword puzzles, and above all laughter. Mike was predeceased by his parents Robert Fitzpatrick and Leola Russom Fitzpatrick, his sister Barbara Fitzpatrick and his brother Peter Fitzpatrick. He was devoted to his family and is survived by his Wife of 53 years, Jackie, his daughter Stacey Herhusky (son in law Mark) of Lake Tahoe, his son Scott Fitzpatrick (McKinney, TX), his son Danny Fitzpatrick (daughter-in-law Alyssa) of Bellevue, Washington, his daughter Shannon Hauser (son-in-law Marty) of McKinney, Texas, and his grandchildren Brandon, Ryan, Kieran, Kendall, Kayla, Charlie and Jack. He is also survived by his niece, Leslie (Staigar) Dussault and her family of Saratoga Springs and his nephew Christopher O’Donovan. Tragically, Christopher died shortly after Mike on October 3, 2020. Mike will be dearly missed by all. Due to the coronavirus restrictions, his memorial has been postponed indenitely.
