Greeneld Center, NY – Judy A. Schmidt nee Turney passed away peacefully at home on January 23, 2021 after a long illness. She was born in Burlington, Connecticut to the late Ola (Rockwell) Turney and Arnold Turney. Judy graduated from Saratoga Springs High School class of 1960 then received a bachelor degree of education State University of Oneonta 1964. She did student teaching and taught grade school at the Poughkeepsie, New York school system and in the state of Maryland before moving back to Greeneld in the 80s. She then taught again in Corinth. In later years she and her husband operated an antique rug company and traveled widely for shows and auctions their co highly regarded in the industry. She was co-founder of PoshArt making antique carpet and tapestry fragments into pillows. Judy was involved in a number of organizations more prominently she especially liked being Cubmaster. Judy was a joyous person and had a very rosy attitude. She always enjoyed large gatherings of her family and friends was the life of the party had a great sense of humor. She always asked who wants their tea leaves read and was considered an expert in the tea leaf reading organization. Judy was extremely dedicated to family and friends. She loved the English language, literature, teaching, and was the crossword Queen. Wasn’t afraid to read any book and her library was one complete wall plus. Judy read every book in the bookmobile and begged to refresh the supply. She is survived by husband Wallace “Carter” Schmidt, son Joseph Giambroni of Houston, TX, stepdaughter Kimberly Levine of Cohoes, NY, grandchildren Nicholas, Lucas, Emily, Rachel, Heather, Katie, Eric, Abby, Joey. Judy is also survived by Nicholas and Lucas’ mother, Laura Giambroni of Orlando, FL, many great-grandchildren, four sisters; Joyce Kelly of Greensboro NC, Ann DeVivo (Sal) of Stuart FL, Louise Young (Clifford) of Porter Corners, NY, Mary Hendrie of Ballston Spa, NY, and a brother Terry Turney (Carol) of Porter Corners, NY and several nieces and nephews.
