QUEENSBURY, N.Y. » If Sean Hudson never completes another pass, he’ll never forget the one he tossed to Buffalo Bills star Devin “Motor” Singletary at West Mountain this week.

Hudson, Saratoga Springs High School’s starting senior quarterback, and Singletary teamed up to help unveil a first-ever Tuber Bowl competition the ski resort has planned for Super Bowl weekend, on Saturday Feb. 5, 2022.

It’s open to everyone, although Singletary, the Bills’ top rusher this past season (687 yards), hopes to be in next year’s Super Bowl himself.

Tuber Bowl will be held at West Mountain’s 10-lane, lighted tubing park.

Hudson said Blue Streaks assistant coach Eric Hayden invited him to take part in this week’s promotional event.

“He texted me the day before and asked if I wanted to throw a pass to an NFL player. I told him, Of course! Yes!” Hudson said. “I actually threw Devin a pass while he was tubing down the hill and he caught it.”

In addition to his rushing prowess, Singletary caught 38 passes for 269 yards from Bills superstar quarterback

Josh Allen this year. Buffalo went all the way to the AFC Championship game before losing to Kansas City.

Hudson said he plans to take part in next year’s Tuber Bowl if college studies don’t interfere.

“I think it’ll be cool, I’ll definitely come,” he said.

Singletary took part in the kickoff announcement at the invitation of Saratoga Springs-based LIFT Marketing LLC, which handles promotions and publicity for West Mountain.

“The Tuber Bowl is going to bring out the fastest-ofthe-fast tubers, so the competition will be fierce,” he said. “This event is all about having fun outdoors and even better, it will also support local and regional charities.”

Resort General Manager Sara Montgomery said Tuber Bowl is the first event of its kind she’s aware of anywhere in the country. Plans call for holding it annually.

“Having it surrounding the Super Bowl, it will be a fun event for families and people of all ages,” she said. “It’s our commitment to continuing that mission of family fun by bringing new and exciting outdoor activities to the area.”

Tuber Bowl is expected to attract tubers, both competitive and novice, from a wide area to compete for the Tuber Bowl championship trophy and tuber bragging rights.

Public timed trials are planned for Jan. 22, 23, 29 and 30 on designated lanes. Registered tubers will have their best of two timed trials entered into the official timed-trials dashboard.

The top 20 times will advance to the playoffs. The top eight times from the playoffs will then advance to the finals.

To add to the excitement of the finals, three additional special guests, to be announced at a later date, will join the top eight to compete for a chance to advance to the finals.

The top two times from the top eight will compete for the title of West Mountain Tuber Bowl Champion 2022. The crowned champion will have their name etched into the Tuber Bowl trophy, which will be encased for display at West Mountain. The champion will be automatically invited back to compete in the 2023 playoffs.

To kick off the Tuber Bowl weekend, West Mountain will host a Friday night beer, wings and pasta dinner on Friday, Feb. 4 to get the athletes ready for game day action. On Tuber Bowl Saturday, there will be bleachers for fans, live music, and additional fan-fest experiences.

Tuber athletes may register for time trials at TuberBowl.com in December 2021.

Spectator tickets for bleacher seating on Saturday, Feb. 5 will be available for purchase in early 2022. For more information go to: tuberbowl.com.
