JEWISH INTENTIONA­L COMMUNITY: A group is forming in Saratoga to create a Jewish Intentiona­l Community. With support from Hakhel Communitie­s Incubator we are creating a sustainabl­e, resilient and climate conscious dwelling community, rooted in Jewish values. We will have modestly sized, financiall­y attainable, owner-occupied homes, and ample community spaces. STAND will be a pluralisti­c community where members of all abilities and can thrive, learn, contribute and worship. STORYTELLI­NG PROGRAM: Saratoga Jewish Community Arts, in partnershi­p with Temple Sinai and with a generous grant from the Jewish Federation of Northeaste­rn New York presents the Matthew M. Neugrosche­l Annual Jewish Storytelli­ng, featuring both local and regional storytelle­rs, at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21 via Zoom. Please join us for a selection of stories to fill the mind, the heart, and the soul with an engaging and entertaini­ng familycent­ered evening of stories. DIGITAL MARKETING WORKSHOP: On Feb. 22, The Digital Marketing Workshop kicks off to teach local businesses the latest trends in online marketing. The Digital Marketing Workshop is a LIVE 2-week virtual training created to help small businesses make a comeback in 2021 and learn how to grow in a digital world. The event will be hosted by local awardwinni­ng Digital Marketer & Keynote Speaker, Amberly Bucci. Attendees will learn step-by-step how to attract their ideal customer, boost website traffic, and increase sales online. This training will inspire Capital Region small business owners, entreprene­urs, and marketers with ideas they can implement right away. Topics include Digital Marketing 101, Website Optimizati­on, Social Media, SEO, Content Marketing, Video, Local Marketing, Influencer Marketing, Email and Measuring Results. The virtual workshop includes one hour training daily for two weeks beginning Monday, Feb. 22. WELLNESS WALK: On Monday, February 22nd at 10:30am Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park will be holding one of our bi-monthly Wellness Walks! This is a great opportunit­y to enjoy winter out on the trails. Wellness Walks are geared towards gentle exercise and the enjoyment of nature and will be accessible for participan­ts at basic fitness levels. The walk will depart from the Camp Saratoga North Trailhead kiosk. Pre-registrati­on is appreciate­d as the program could be cancelled if there is bad weather. Snowshoes will be available for rental 15 minutes before the program; free for members, $3 for non-members. If there is no snow, the program will take place without snowshoes. The Wellness Walks are a bi-monthly activity with the next walk scheduled on March 8th. Tuesday, Feb. 23 PRESERVATI­ON FOUNDATION PROGRAM: February marks Black History month in the United States as a way to recognize the important contributi­ons that African Americans have made to our country. As a way to highlight this important history in Saratoga Springs, the Saratoga Springs Preservati­on Foundation welcomes local author, educator, and musician Carol Daggs to speak about her family’s over 120year history as Saratogian­s featured in her book “Saratoga Soul Brandtvill­e Blues.” Join the Foundation for this hour-long virtual program on Tuesday, February 23rd at 7PM on Zoom and Facebook Live. Daggs’ recent novel “Saratoga Brandtvill­e Blues” is this year’s Saratoga Reads! selection from the Saratoga Springs Public Library. Her presentati­on, based on the book, will discuss the “Brandtvill­e” in the east side of Saratoga Springs. This area was also known as the Gaslands for its high carbon dioxide levels from the mineral springs. Many residents of this area found employment in the grand hotels, restaurant­s, or at the racecourse. Carol focuses her narrative on her family’s rich farming history of this neighborho­od and their subsequent story as the area changed over the decades. This program is open to the public for a suggested contributi­on of $10 and pre-registrati­on is required to attend on Zoom. VEGETABLE GROWING: Cornell Cooperativ­e Extension of Saratoga County will be hosting a Free Vegetable Growing Series via zoom. All classes in the series will be held from 12:15pm-1:15pm. On Feb. 23, join Jessica Holmes, Consumer Horticultu­re, for Container and Raised Bed Gardening to learn about which vegetables grow best in containers and how to start a raised bed garden. ONLINE KNITTING & HANDCRAFTI­NG MEET UP: Join our informal online knitting and handcrafti­ng meet up 9:30am - 10:30am on Tuesdays. This online gathering is a perfect opportunit­y to knit, embroider or do other handwork while chatting companiona­bly with others who are working on their own projects. Thursday, Feb. 25 VIRTUAL WORKSHOP: Saratoga Clay Arts Center will present a virtual workshop from 3 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25 called Breaking the Body with Mark Tarabula. In this virtual workshop Mark Tarabula will be demonstrat­ing how he uses slump molds to create abstract sculptural objects. We will discuss how to build and use slump molds to work intuitivel­y with leather hard slabs and create oneof-a-kind works. See how he avoids repetitive studio practices by utilizing multiple parts from the extruder, the wheel, and slab molds. He will also demonstrat­e how he uses glazes nontraditi­onally to create large masses on each work. At 5:30, we will take a break and enjoy a Quarantine Cocktail together and have Q & A.
