Ballston Area Seniors are excited to announce four free boxed lunch dates, Mondays in April, with the generous support of our community health partner CDPHP. We will have 100 boxed lunches to hand out to area seniors on Mondays this April: 5, 12, 19, 26. These meals will be handed out on a first come first serve basis. Drive thru pickup, or eat in at the designated location inside our temporary home located at the gym on 15 Treible Ave. Due to COVID guidelines a maximum of 50 people indoors. CDPHP has been providing these boxed lunches throughout the Capital District at various locations in response to food insecurity and financial constraints caused by the COVID crisis. There will be no charge to seniors for this lunch. Available for all area seniors. You do not need to be a Ballston Area Senior Member, a Town of Milton, a Town of Ballston or a Ballston Spa resident to receive this lunch. All seniors are welcome. No pre-registration required; meals are available while supplies last. BROOKS BBQ: The Saratoga Automobile Museum will host another fundraising event with the Oneonta based Brooks House of BBQ on Tuesday, April 6 with pickup hours from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. here at the museum, located in Saratoga Spa State Park. As part of the museum’s ongoing community outreach, in response to the global pandemic, patrons of the Museum’s fundraiser are encouraged to purchase additional chicken or rib dinners for Shelters of Saratoga. These dinners will be delivered to Shelters of Saratoga the evening of the event to support their important mission. RUTH BADER GINSBURG PROGRAM:
Congregation Shaara Tfille and The Jewish Community Center of Saratoga Springs are presenting a program on the legacy of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The virtual program, shared through the 92nd Street Y in New York City, will feature women’s rights icon Gloria Steinem and Berkeley School of Law Professor Amanda Tyler. The event, sponsored by a generous grant from the Jewish Federation of Northeast
New York, is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6. For reservations and information, please contact bopitz@skidmore.edu prior to April 5. Open to the entire community, the production is complimentary, but donations are encouraged to benefit Congregation Shaara Tfille and The Jewish Community Center for future programming. Steinem and Tyler will provide a deep examination of the life and work of Ginsburg. As Ginsburg argued for gender equality in the courtrooms, Steinem was on the front lines — two lifelong allies in a joint pursuit. Tyler is a former Ginsburg law clerk and co-author on her final book, “Justice, Justice Thou Shalt Pursue: A Life’s Work Fighting for a More Perfect Union.” Together they will look at Ginsburg’s trailblazing legacy, exploring the landmark cases and barrierbreaking achievements that resulted in transforming not only the American legal landscape but American society itself.

FARMLAND ACCESS WORKSHOP:
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Saratoga County and Saratoga PLAN have collaborated to bring a series of three free Farmland Access Workshops. Designed for farmland owners and those looking to purchase farmland or diversify their farming operation, the virtual classes will be held on March 22, March 29, and April 7 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The series will kick off with Farmland Leasing presented by Nicole Tommell, Agricultural Business Management Specialist of Cornell Cooperative Extension. Learn how to craft agricultural leases that work for both landowners and tenants. The second class is Welcoming the Public with Sarah Miller, Attorney at Hodgeson & Russ LLP. This hour and a half will focus on legal considerations to explore when welcoming the public onto your farm. To close the series Dustin Lewis of Saratoga County Soil and Water Conservation District along with Jessica Holmes and Nicolina Foti of CCE Saratoga present Farmland Evaluation. In this workshop, participants will learn how to find the best fit between agricultural land and farm operation. The workshops are free and open to all. IMPROV NIGHT: On Saturday, April 10th at 7:30pm Home Made Theater in Saratoga Springs will present On the Fly: An Interactive Improv Night. On the Fly will be a “Whose Line Is It Anyway” style performance. It will consist of a panel of three performers who must put their comedic skills to the test through a series of spontaneous improv games, prompted by random ideas supplied by the streaming audience through the chat function, and a host. The host for On the Fly will be Capital District actor, director, and producer Michael McDermott. The panel will
consist of Mike Bellotti, last seen at Home Made Theater in Young Frankenstein,
Home Made Theater veteran Robin Leary, and newcomer Eric Shovah. Home Made Theater is a non-profit Community Theater based in Saratoga Springs whose goal is to enrich the cultural life of the Capital Region and beyond, by offering a range of programming created by professionally minded artists, providing the opportunity for exciting and rewarding participation in all aspects of theater created by and for the diverse community in which we live. In a not surprisingly easy playlist to curate, Rochmon will play, show pictures, and tell stories about 11 of Daryl Hall and John Oates’ Top 40 Hits from 1973, with “She’s Gone”, to 1980, with “Kiss On My List” and “You Make My Dreams”. Hall and Oates provided an amazing soundtrack that was ever present on Radio and MTV! There will be trivia! A Rochmon Record Club Listening Party is meant to inform and deepen our understanding of the history of the individual performers, songs and the stories that went into the making of this classic album. SARATOGA ELKS AUXILIARY CRAFT & GARAGE SALE: Our change to the Monthly Sale was a hit last Fall, so we have decided to have more outside sales on Saturday, April 24 from 11-3 pm and Saturday, May 22 from 11-3 pm. We will again hold the sale in the Saratoga-Wilton Elks Club parking lot on Elks Lane. Admission is free with over 30 vendors; parking is great, bargains galore, and friends to meet. We offer household items, sports equipment, handmade items, clothing, fabrics, jewelry, party vendors, pet supplies, food treats, and just about anything you can imagine may be found here. CAR SHOW: The Annual Lil’ Sugar Dust Off Car Show will take place on Saturday April 24th from 9 AM until 3 PM. The show takes place in the Hadley Town park on Stoney Creek Road in Hadley New York. The car show is held in conjunction with the “Maple in April” Festival. All makes/models of cars and trucks are welcome. Vehicle registration fee is $15.00 and enters the participant in a drawing to win $100.00! Proceeds of the show help fund an annual scholarship at the Hadley-Luzerne High School. No pre-registration. HISTORICAL WALKING TOUR:
Lansingburgh Historical Society will host a very popular historical walking tour again, as requested by many. The tour will be given by Michael Barrett at 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 24, 2021. Lansingburgh pre-dates Troy with the settlement starting before 1740 and the founding of Abraham Lansing’s village “New City” in 1771. Several pre-revolutionary buildings are still standing including the Revolutionary War Hospital. SLOW ROLL: A “Slow Roll” is a leisurely bike ride around Saratoga Springs with a group of bike enthusiasts while remaining socially distant and COVID conscious. You will see parts of Saratoga you may not have in a while and enjoy the company of others you love the outdoors and biking!
The ride will be guided by Bikeatoga looping through quiet and safe neighborhood streets. The pace will be suitable for families too! The winter “Slow Rolls” will last approximately 1 hour. To celebrate the completion of the new Horse Arena the Washington County Fairgrounds will be kicking off the 2021 season with a Horse Tack Swap Meet on Saturday, May 8th, 2021 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Many have spent 2020 organizing barns, attics, and basements, now take the final step and get rid of all of your gently used horse-related tack and equipment!
