Monday, April 19 FREE LUNCH FOR SENIORS:
Ballston Area Seniors are excited to announce free boxed lunch dates, with the generous support of our community health partner CDPHP. We will have 100 boxed lunches to hand out to area seniors on Mondays this April: 12th, 19th, 26th. These meals will be handed out on a first come first serve basis. Drive thru pickup only at the Senior center at 310 North line road. Please use the pool room entrance. CDPHP has been providing these boxed lunches throughout the Capital District at various locations. There will be no charge to seniors for this lunch. Available for all area seniors. You do not need to be a Ballston Area Senior Member, a Town of Milton, a Town of Ballston or a Ballston Spa resident to receive this lunch. All seniors are welcome. No pre-registration required, meals are available while supplies last. The drive thru will be open from 12-3. Please remember to come to the pool room entrance.

After a year of virtual concerts, Caffe’ Lena has been given the green light to open their doors to the public at limited capacity! Join us on April 20th for our first in person Rochmon Record Club since the lockdown began! On Tuesday April 20th The Rochmon Record Club will meet to listen and learn about Hall and Oates – Greatest Hits Part 1 “All Killer, No Filler”. Daryl Hall and John Oates are one of the most successful writing duos in music history.
In a not surprisingly easy playlist to curate, Rochmon will play, show pictures, and tell stories about 11 of Daryl Hall and John Oates’ Top 40 Hits from 1973, with “She’s Gone”, to 1980, with “Kiss On My List” and “You Make My Dreams”. Hall and Oates provided an amazing soundtrack that was ever present on Radio and MTV! There will be trivia! A Rochmon Record Club Listening Party is meant to inform and deepen our understanding of the history of the individual performers, songs and the stories that went into the making of this classic album. By listening together, we get to hear the music again for the first time. It will be great to have you on Zoom or in Person, everyone should do what they are comfortable with. Currently Caffe Lena cannot offer refreshments. Your mask must be worn at all times. You cannot bring food or drink with you. Full Safety Protocols will be delivered with your e-ticket. JOURNALING & MEMOIR WRITING FOR SENIORS:
The Senior Services Committee of CAPTAIN/CHS will offer a remote program on Journaling and Memoir Writing for Senior Citizens in three sessions on April 14, 21 and 28 1:00 to 2:30 pm, conducted by Janine DeTillo Cammarata who has over 30 years of experience with personal journaling. Journaling encompasses fun forms of writing from recording daily events, goal setting, tracking, accountability, to do lists, and story. This series will focus on journaling techniques to record daily events as well as creating memory threads to write memoir. No experience is needed to participate. Registration is free. Participation is limited to 12 people, so register early on Janine’s website at www.janinedetilliocammarata.com to avoid disappointment! The class will be presented online through WebEx; participants will need to download the WebEx app (on any platform) prior to the first class. Participants who are unsure about using an online app like WebEx can ask for help before the class begins. Youth Helping Youth is partnering with Saratoga County Mental Health Youth and Family Services team, Franklin Community Center, Shelters of Saratoga, and Life Works Community Action Program (EOC) to provide transportation assistance. This is going to be the second Pop-UP organized by Youth2. This event will provide the community in need with transportation to jobs, doctor appointments, job interviews and other important appointments. You can purchase bus passes at your local Price Chopper Customer Service. The Navigator card is $2 and it is $1.30 more for each ride you add. You can purchase a pass for $3.30 (1 ride), $4.60 (2 rides), 5.90 (3 rides) or any amount you want to donate. The drop off will take place on Friday, April 23, 2021 4-6pm, rain or shine in the 112 Spring Street parking lot. The entry to the 112 Spring Street parking lot is on Court Street. Saturday, April 24 RECRUITMENT OPEN HOUSE:
The Wilton Volunteer Fire Department is participating in a statewide recruitment initiative to help increase the number of volunteer firefighters.As part of the annual RecruitNY effort, volunteer fire departments across New York state will invite the public to their respective firehouses for a unified recruitment drive. Wilton Volunteer Fire Department will open its station to potential area recruits and their families so they can learn about what it takes to be a volunteer firefighter in their community and what opportunities partner agencies may have to help serve others. The open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 24 at the department’s 270 Ballard
Rd. station. Partner agencies also planning to attend are Wilton EMS, Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, FBIAlbany, and LifeNet, which is arranging for a special helicopter landing at the start of the event. Attendees can view the landing from their cars via the Ballard Elementary parking lot. SARATOGA ELKS AUXILIARY CRAFT & GARAGE SALE:
Our change to the Monthly Sale was a hit last Fall, so we have decided to have more outside sales on Saturday, April 24 from 11-3 pm and Saturday, May 22 from 11-3 pm. We will again hold the sale in the Saratoga-Wilton Elks Club parking lot on Elks Lane. Admission is free with over 30 vendors; parking is great, bargains galore, and friends to meet. We offer household items, sports equipment, hand-made items, clothing, fabrics, jewelry, party vendors, pet supplies, food treats, and just about anything you can imagine may be found here. CAR SHOW: The Annual Lil’ Sugar Dust Off Car Show will take place on Saturday April 24th from 9 AM until 3 PM. The show takes place in the Hadley Town park on Stoney Creek Road in Hadley New York. The car show is held in conjunction with the “Maple in April” Festival. All makes/models of cars and trucks are welcome. Vehicle registration fee is $15.00 and enters the participant in a drawing to win $100.00! Proceeds of the show help fund an annual scholarship at the Hadley-Luzerne High School. No pre-registration. HISTORICAL WALKING TOUR:
Lansingburgh Historical Society will host a very popular historical walking tour again, as requested by many. The tour will be given by Michael Barrett at 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 24, 2021. Lansingburgh pre-dates Troy with the settlement starting before 1740 and the founding of Abraham Lansing’s village “New City” in 1771. TAILGATE SALE: On Sunday, May 2,2021 Brunswick Grange will hold their annual Spring Agricultural Tailgate sale at the Schaghticoke Fairgrounds, Rt. 67 & 40, Schaghticoke. From 7:30 A.M.-12:30 P.M.. To celebrate the completion of the new Horse Arena the Washington County Fairgrounds will be kicking off the 2021 season with a Horse Tack Swap Meet on Saturday, May 8th, 2021 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Many have spent 2020 organizing barns, attics, and basements, now take the final step and get rid of all of your gently used horserelated tack and equipment! Businesses and Non-Profits with equine-related business and services are welcome to apply for booth space as well. Booth Spaces are $10.00 for a 10x10 booth - set up a table or bring your horse trailer or truck to display your items for sale. Booth signs ups are available on the Washington County Fairground website or by calling the Fairgrounds at 518-692-2464. Throughout the day equine demonstrations on equine care and equine-related events presented by the Washington County Draft Animal Association and the Tri-State Liberty Club will be happening throughout the grounds.
