Saint Rose men in national poll for first time in program history

KANSAS CITY, MO. » The College of Saint Rose is mentioned in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll for the first time in the program’s 39-year history.

The Golden Knights (6-1) are receiving votes in the April 16, 2021 rankings. University of Charleston stands atop the poll while Northeast-10 Conference rival Franklin Pierce is ranked second.

This is a really special moment for our program and alumni, and a real testament to the hard work and perseverance of the guys in our group,” said head coach John Ciano. “I have

been so proud of the dedication and professionalism they have brought every day both on and off the field in such uncertain circumstances. We have tried to continue to stress that this season was a unique opportunity for growth and development, and we are just really happy and humbled by this recognition.”

Saint Rose has won six straight throughout this unprecedented spring campaign.

It’s only loss came with a season-opening 4-0 setback at Division I University at Albany.

A pair of underclassmen pace the team’s scoring ledger. Freshman forward Erick Radtke has a team-leading five goals and two assists, while sophomore forward Hilmar Halldorsson, the 2019 NE10 Rookie of the Year, has three strikes and a like numbers of helpers to his credit. Junior keeper Ryan Henning (Glenmont, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) owns a 1.09 goalsagainst-average throughout 495 minutes of action.
