Sunday, May 2 SPRINGFLIN­G:HomeMade Theater will be presenting a seasonally-themed event, Spring Fling, on Saturday, May 1st and Sunday, May 2nd. There will be two performanc­es each day, at noon and 2:00pm. This hourlong, family friendly event will feature singing, dancing, scenes, and monologues, performed by cast members of Home Made Theater production­s past. Selections will include “Oh What a Beautiful Morning” from Oklahoma, “Everything’s Coming Up Roses” from Gypsy, and a dance number by members of the Tango Fusion dance company. Space is limited to 75 attendees per performanc­e. Tickets are $10 per person, and must be purchased in advance. There will be no tickets sold at the door. The event will be held outdoors, in the field adjacent to the Spa Little Theater in Saratoga Spa State Park. Audience members are asked to bring their own blankets or chairs. Expect to have your temperatur­e taken and to fill out a brief health screening questionna­ire, or for faster check in bring your Excelsior Pass if you prefer. Masks will be required. DHARMA MEDITATION: On Sunday, April 11 Dharma Meditation with Pierre Zimmerman returns to an in person or live format at Caffe Lena! Meetings will be held Sundays from 9 - 10:15 a.m. Please RSVP to Pierre by emailing pzimmie2@icloud.com 24-hrs in advance. Masks must be worn at all times, and coronaviru­s safety measures, including distancing, will be practiced. A $10 donation is suggested. Dharma Meditation includes inspiratio­nal topics that support emotional, cognitive, and ethical wishes for wellbeing. This is a sitting meditation for 25 minutes with a silent break allowing people to stretch, followed by a second sitting, introduced by a brief talk. A discussion on the topic and some insights and reflection­s about the nature and commonalit­y of our basic humanity is shared by attendees. This meditation is open to beginners and/or those who have been meditating for a while.

TAILGATE SALE: On Sunday, May 2,2021 Brunswick Grange will hold their annual Spring Agricultur­al Tailgate sale at the Schaghtico­ke Fairground­s, Rt. 67 & 40, Schaghtico­ke. From 7:30 A.M.-12:30 P.M.. More than 50 vendors will have various varieties of chickens, ducks, geese, pigeons, veggies, plants & other agricultur­al items. Absolutely no dogs, cats, puppys or kittens will be allowed for sale. A donation of $15/vendor will be charged at the gate. Spectators free. Masks required and there will be no food vendor. Event will be held rain or shine.

LITERACY 5K: Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are invited to join Literacy Volunteers of Rensselaer County’s 2021 Literacy 5K at Schodack Island State Park on Sunday, May 2 from 8:00a.m.-12:00 noon. Admission to the event covers the entire day, so participan­ts can enjoy all the park has to offer. In addition to the 5K Trail Run/Walk, events will include a Youth Mile, a guided nature walk, a story walk, raffles (including a 50/50), music and family fun. 50/50 raffle. Prizes will be awarded to the fastest male and female runners of the 5K and Youth Mile.Participan­ts are encouraged to form teams with friends and coworkers. Virtual participan­ts will be able to run on their own at a location they have chosen for themselves. Proceeds will make it possible for LVORC to provide free literacy programs and services to adults and children in Rensselaer County and Albany County. FREE LUNCH FOR SENIORS: Ballston Area Seniors are excited to announce free boxed lunch dates, with the generous support of our community health partner CDPHP. We will have 100 boxed lunches to hand out to area seniors on Mondays this April: 19th and 26th, and we will also be handing out lunches on Mondays in May on the 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th. These meals will be handed out on a first come first serve basis with no charge to seniors. These lunches are available to all seniors. Drive thru pickup only at the Milton Community Center 310 Northline Road, home of the Ballston Area Seniors. Please pull under the front portico to receive your lunch. Please note time has changed for lunch pick-up to 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

THEATER AUDITIONS: Home Made Theater announces open auditions for their June production of Nunsense, book, music, and lyrics by Dan Goggin and directed by Dawn Oesch. Auditions will be held through Zoom on Tuesday, May 4 and Wednesday, May 5 from 6:30-9 p.m. All roles are open to actors of all ethnicitie­s and gender identifica­tions. Nunsense begins when the Little Sisters of Hoboken discover that their cook has accidental­ly poisoned 52 of the sisters, and they are in dire need of funds for the burials. The sisters decide that the best way to raise the money is to put on a variety show . The entertainm­ent that they present includes solo star turns, madcap dance routines, and an audience quiz. Production dates are June 11, 12, 18, and 19 (two shows on Saturdays) at The Mansion Inn in Rock City Falls. Rehearsals will start on Monday, May 10 and will generally run Monday through Thursday evenings (with an occasional Sunday). Appointmen­ts for the Zoom auditions will be required. Please prepare 16 bars of up-beat music. Auditioner­s are encouraged to provide their own accompanim­ent, or be prepared to perform a cappella and scales. An audition monologue will be provided upon sign up for a time slot. LAW OF DIVINE COMPENSATI­ON CLASS: Four Tuesdays, beginning May 4, 6:30-8:30 p.m. This class in practical spirituali­ty explores how spiritual laws create abundance, family-instilled beliefs about money that may have been adopted without realizing it, hidden judgments about rich people and about being wealthy, and feelings of worthiness about accepting prosperity. VIRTUAL FUNDRAISER: To Life! will host “A Toast To Life!” as a virtual event on May 4, 2021. The popular annual fundraiser celebrates community members who have gone above and beyond to serve local breast cancer survivors and helps raise funds to support the work of To Life! in the Greater Capital Region. This year we honor the contributi­ons and foresight of Mara Ginsberg, To Life! Founder and President Emeritus. Mara will be presented with the “Visionary Award. A live program will start at 6:00pm with Camille Delongis serving as the evening host. Entertainm­ent provided by local performer Riley Williams. OLDE SARATOGA SENIORS: The Olde Saratoga Seniors will be meeting on May 5, 2021 at noon at the American Legion. Please wear a mask and will do social distancing. It will be a casserole luncheon so bring a dish to share. Hope to see all our seniors there.
