BROOKS BBQ: Newtonville United Methodist Church is happy to announce its Brooks BBQ dates for 2021. NUMC is located at the corner of Rt. 9 and Maxwell Road near Siena College. Our dates for 2021 are: Thursday, May 13; Thursday, June 10; Wednesday,

July 28; Thursday, September 16; and Thursday, October 7. We offer a chicken dinner for $11 or a rib dinner for

$13. Dinners include a baked potato, roll, applesauce and a homemade brownie. We also offer the option of just meat – a half chicken for $8 or a half rack of ribs for $10. CHROMATIC SCALES: Chromatic Scales: Psychedelic Design from the Tang Teaching Museum Collection features more than thirty recently acquired 1960s San Francisco psychedelic rock concert posters designed by artists such as Jim Blashfield, Lee Conklin, and Bonnie MacLean, and the Big Five’s Wes Wilson and Victor Moscoso. The collection, which will be on view in SPAC’s new “The Pines” facility lobby, features major bands such as The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, and Van Morrison and the era’s legendary venues The Matrix, Avalon Ballroom, and Fillmore Auditorium. Chromatic Scales is curated by the Tang in coordination with Christopher Shiley, Senior Director of Artistic Planning at SPAC. Open to the public July 19 – 30 at Saratoga Performing Arts Center, 12 – 5 PM daily, check in at the Route 50 entrance.

Thursday, July 29 SENIORS MEETING:

The Ballston Area Seniors will temporarily be holding meetings at the Fitness & Cycle Gym, next to the China City, in the Hannaford Plaza at 15 Trieble Ave. in Milton. Starting July 1, we will be resuming our weekly meetings on every Thursday of the month.

Doors will open at 10:30

am, for the sales of 50⁄50, crafter sales, socializing and cards. At noon lunch, and at 12:30 a General meeting will be held and Bingo will follow the meeting. On the second Thursday tickets will be on sale for $3 for the meal on the third Thursday. Or call President Linda Elmer 518-885-4839 to order food and sign up. Or bring your own lunch on this day. TURNING POINT PARADE: The 26th Annual Turning Point Parade will be held in the Village of Schuylerville on Sunday, August 1.

This summer spectacular, considered to be one of the best parades in the area, was cancelled last year due to the pandemic. This year’s parade promises to return with all the elements of a good old-fashioned parade. Please join us and help celebrate our triumphant return. Stepping-off time is 1:00 PM. The theme - Family Farming - Planting Our Future - pays tribute to the many family farms that operate in Saratoga County and throughout the area up and down the Hudson Valley. Many of these farms have been in existence for generations, some going back to General Schuyler and the American Revolution. Agriculture has been a leader of the county/state economies for decades. WITNESS TO HISTORY: The historic Marshall House at 136Route 4North in Schuylerville, New York will be open on Sunday, August 1st as part of the Village’s Turning Point Parade celebration. The house played an important role in the area’s Revolutionary War history, serving as a field hospital for the British troops and the German soldiers who fought with them in the Saratoga campaign. The family of the German General Friedrich Riedesel had accompanied Burgoyne to the battlefront. The Baroness Frederika Riedesel (as portrayed by Debbie Bailey) will greet visitors and tell the story of how she with her three children endured bombardment at the Marshall House during the American siege during the Battles of Saratoga in 1777. Docents will explain details of the historic house. Visitors will be limited to groups of fifteen in 45minute sessions at 2:30, 3:15, 4:00 and 4:45. There will be valet parking at the house. While admission is free, a donation of $10 per person is suggested to further the educational outreach of The Marshall House. Registration is required. SUNDAY SUMMER STROLL:

After a sold-out season of Summer Sunday Strolls in 2020, the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation is thrilled to announce that this year’s stroll series is underway. These historic walking tours will be offered every Sunday through September 5th at 10:30 a.m. in various neighborhoods throughout the city. All Sunday morning tours last approximately 90 minutes and require walking and standing on varied terrain. Tours will be limited to thirty and tickets must be purchased in advance.

The cost per tour is $15for SSPF members and $20for non-members. Members who have received complimentary Stroll passes will have those honored for their value of $10 and will be required to pay the difference of $5. Sunday, Aug. 1 - Broadway in 1874. Gloria May will lead a tour of Broadway that focuses on the sights and sounds of Broadway in 1874. Park are back for the 14th summer in a row, presented by the Ballston Spa Business and Professional Association, as part of its First Friday activities. The series begins on June 4 (rain date June 5) with “Trolls”. “The Croods” will be shown on July 2(rain date July

3), “Frozen 2” on August 6(rain date August 7) and “The Secret Life of Pets 2” on September 3(rain date September 4). All films are family-friendly. The movies are projected onto the wall of the adjacent Front Street Deli building on Front Street in the village and begin at dusk (approximately 8:308:45 pm). All screenings are free.
