FAMILY FUN FRIDAYS: Take a playful trip back in time to the 18th century every Friday afternoon of the summer break at Brookside Museum, located at 6 Charlton St. in Ballston Spa. Children, along with their parents, are invited to join reenactors Erin and Henry in playing with reproducti­ons of centuries-old toys and games. The calendar may read 2021, but Fridays at Brookside will be like 1771! “Family Fun Fridays” is a limited series: July 30and Aug 6, 13, and 20, from 2-4 p.m. The events are free and open to the public, though participat­ion may be limited depending on numbers. Donations are appreciate­d. In addition to the historical games and interactio­ns, Brookside Museum will be open on those days, 1-5 p.m. There are four brand new exhibits, including the innovative “Social Life of Hats” display and the exhibition on Stewart’s Shops and the Dake Family (sponsored by Stewart’s). FREE SUMMER MOVIES:

Free movies in Wiswall Park are back for the 14th summer in a row, presented by the Ballston Spa Business and Profession­al Associatio­n, as part of its First Friday activities. The series begins on June 4(rain date June 5) with “Trolls”. “The Croods” will be shown on July 2(rain date July 3), “Frozen 2” on August 6(rain date August 7) and “The Secret Life of Pets 2” on September 3(rain date September 4). All films are family-friendly. The movies are projected onto the wall of the adjacent Front Street Deli building on Front Street in the village and begin at dusk (approximat­ely 8:30-8:45 pm). All screenings are free. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. We will follow any continuing guidelines for safe public gatherings that may be in effect at the time of the event. These may include social distancing measures, face masks and limited capacity in the park for movie viewers. GREENFIELD FARMERS MARKET: The Middle Grove United Methodist Church, located at 429 Middle Grove Rd., is hosting the Greenfield Farmers Market this year.

VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT:

Spectators are welcome at the 30 th Annual Million Dollar Beach Volleyball Tournament to Benefit Prospect Center, an affiliate of the Center for Disability Services. The tournament has four divisions: AA, A, BB and B with Men’s, Women’s and Co-ed teams. Saturday, August 7 & Sunday, August 8. Play is scheduled to begin at 9 a. m. both days at Million Dollar Beach, Lake George. Nearly 800 volleyball players and hundreds of spectators from throughout the United States are expected to attend the weekend tournament that continues to gain recognitio­n on the volleyball circuit under the direction of Chris Bowler and Ben Rosenthal.

FISHING COMPETITIO­N:

Hudson Crossing Park invites anglers of all ages to “Keepin’ It REEL,” a fun and family friendly fishing competitio­n. Participan­ts will fish on the Hudson from Schuylervi­lle to Fort Edward from 8— 11:30am on Sunday, August 8, 2021. All types of fish are accepted, and fish must be photograph­ed while being measured and released unharmed. Participan­ts can fish from shore, dock, or registered boat, and live and artificial bait, lures, and flies are accepted. Bowfishing and spearfishi­ng are not allowed. YOUTH FISHING TOURNAMENT:

Lake Lauderdale Improvemen­t Assoc.’s 25th annual children’s fishing tournament returns this year after COVID cancelled our plans in 2020. The tournament will take place on Sunday, August 8th at the Washington County Park Pavilion on beautiful Lake Lauderdale. The tournament is free and open to all young anglers age 15and under and is strictly catch and release only. The tournament runs from 8:0010:30 a.m. and concludes with a free hot dog lunch for all participan­ts. As always, there will be no fee charged to children entering the contest. Registrati­on opens at 7:30 a.m. and all young anglers are required to stop at the pavilion prior to getting their fishing lines wet. There will be several different age groups and L.L.I.A. is working hard to ensure that all participan­ts receive a small prize. SUNDAY SUMMER STROLL:

After a sold-out season of Summer Sunday Strolls in 2020, the Saratoga Springs Preservati­on Foundation is thrilled to announce that this year’s stroll series is underway. These historic walking tours will be offered every Sunday through September 5th at 10:30 a.m. in various neighborho­ods throughout the city. All Sunday morning tours last approximat­ely 90 minutes and require walking and standing on varied terrain. Tours will be limited to thirty and tickets must be purchased in advance.

The cost per tour is $15for SSPF members and $20for non-members. SARATOGA 9 & WINE: The Wesley Foundation, the philanthro­pic arm of The Wesley Community in Saratoga Springs, will host its second golf fundraiser “Saratoga 9 and Wine” on Tuesday, Aug. 10at the Saratoga Lake

Golf Club at 35 Grace Moore Road in Saratoga Springs. The event is a nine-hole scramble format golf outing with two tournament­s being played on the front and back nine holes simultaneo­usly. In addition, the event will feature wine and spirits tastings along the course, as well as other contests and activities. Funds raised through the Saratoga 9 & Wine event will benefit The Campaign For Springs to renovate the Springs Building at Wesley Health Care Center. The project will create a contempora­ry, efficient and home-like environmen­t on the building’s second, third and fourth floors. Phase one of the project was completed in 2016.
