Saratoga CSD updates health safety protocols
Saratoga County is classified as “Substantial Risk” for community spread of the COVID-19 virus according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
The CDC has recommended universal masking for all staff, students, and visitors in schools, regardless of vaccination status. According to the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Michael Patton, after consulting with their District Physician and the Saratoga County Department of Health, the district is updating its current health and safety plans. Those plans include:
• All students and staff must wear an appropriate mask at all times while inside any of our buildings.
• Masks can be removed when individuals are eating or drinking.
• Students and staff should continue to maintain three feet of social distancing whenever possible.
• Masks are not required for any outdoor instruction or activities.
• All staff and students utilizing transportation must continue to wear masks at all times.
• If staff members are working alone in a classroom or office space, they may remove their mask.
• Re-mask when moving around the building.
The district is still waiting for guidance from the NYS Department of Health on specific health and safety guidelines that will help them finalize our reopening plans for September. The district will update the entire school community as soon as they have received and reviewed that information.
Patton added that the school district is taking the necessary steps to continue to ensure the health and safety of all students and staff and provide the opportunity for all students to return to full-time, in-person learning in September.
