The tournament has four divisions: AA, A, BB and B with Men’s, Women’s and Co-ed teams. Saturday, August 7 & Sunday, August 8. Play is scheduled to begin at 9 a. m. both days at Million Dollar Beach, Lake George. Nearly 800 volleyball players and hundreds of spectators from throughout the United States are expected to attend the weekend tournament that continues to gain recognition on the volleyball circuit under the direction of Chris Bowler and Ben Rosenthal.

DHARMA MEDITATION: Dharma Meditation with Pierre Zimmerman has returned to an in person or live format at Caffe Lena! Meetings are held Sundays from 9 — 10:15am. FISHING COMPETITION:
Hudson Crossing Park invites anglers of all ages to “Keepin’ It REEL,” a fun and family friendly fishing competition.
Participants will fish on the Hudson from Schuylerville to Fort Edward from 8— 11:30am on Sunday, August 8, 2021. All types of fish are accepted, and fish must be photographed while being measured and released unharmed. Participants can fish from shore, dock, or registered boat, and live and artificial bait, lures, and flies are accepted. Bowfishing and spearfishing are not allowed. Submit your top ten legal fish (with photos) and the top total accumulation wins. For full details visit Hudson Crossing Park’s website. Awards will be distributed at HCP’s pavilion at noon with plenty of opportunities to swap fishing stories with others, enjoy fishing demos and try beer tastings! YOUTH FISHING TOURNAMENT: Lake Lauderdale Improvement Assoc.’s 25th annual children’s fishing tournament returns this year after COVID cancelled our plans in 2020. The tournament will take place on Sunday, August 8th at the Washington County Park Pavilion on beautiful Lake Lauderdale. The tournament is free and open to all young anglers age 15and under and is strictly catch and release only. The tournament runs from 8:0010:30 a.m. and concludes with a free hot dog lunch for all participants. As always, there will be no fee charged to children entering the contest. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. and all young anglers are required to stop at the pavilion prior to getting their fishing lines wet. There will be several different age groups and L.L.I.A. is working hard to ensure that all participants receive a small prize. All young anglers are required to have a parent or legal guardian on hand with them at all times. SUNDAY SUMMER STROLL:
After a sold-out season of Summer Sunday Strolls in 2020, the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation is thrilled to announce that this year’s stroll series is underway. These historic walking tours will be offered every Sunday through September 5th at 10:30 a.m. in various neighborhoods throughout the city. All Sunday morning tours last approximately 90 minutes and require walking and standing on varied terrain. Tours will be limited to thirty and tickets must be purchased in advance.
The cost per tour is $15for SSPF members and $20 for non-members. Members who have received complimentary Stroll passes will have those honored for their value of $10 and will be required to pay the difference of $5. Sunday, Aug. 8— Post Time! SARATOGA 9 & WINE: The Wesley Foundation, the philanthropic arm of The Wesley Community in Saratoga Springs, will host its second golf fundraiser “Saratoga 9 and Wine” on Tuesday, Aug. 10 at the Saratoga Lake
Golf Club at 35 Grace Moore Road in Saratoga Springs. The event is a nine-hole scramble format golf outing with two tournaments being played on the front and back nine holes simultaneously. In addition, the event will feature wine and spirits tastings along the course, as well as other contests and activities. Funds raised through the Saratoga 9 & Wine event will benefit The Campaign For Springs to renovate the Springs Building at Wesley Health Care Center. The project will create a contemporary, efficient and home-like environment on the building’s second, third and fourth floors. Phase one of the project was completed in 2016. Golf registrations are $110 per person or $440 for a group of four and include tastings along the course as well as lunch. FREE CONCERT: Hudson Crossing Park (HCP) is pleased to present a free community concert featuring handbell choir The Batten Kill Bell Ringers on Thursday August 12, 2021at 6pm under the HCP pavilion. Directed by Debi Craig, the group will be playing an assortment of patriotic, classical, sacred, and folk music. They will also be joined on two selections by The Union Village Ringers, another community handbell choir led by Craig. Composed of ringers are from Greenwich, Easton, Victory, Schuylerville, and Saratoga, some members have been playing together since 1978. Both groups rehearse at the Bottskill Baptist Church in Greenwich and have performed at the Danforth in Hoosick Falls, The Cambridge Guest Home, and for the Holiday Community Sing at Hebron United Presbyterian Church. This event is free and open to the public, although donations to support Hudson Crossing Park are gratefully accepted. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and/or picnic blankets to enjoy the show. FARMERS MARKET: The Mechanicville Library, located at 190 N. Main St. Mechanicville, will be holding its 2021 Farmers Market on Mondays from 4pm — 7pm from June — September. This producers market will feature vegetables, fruits, meats, eggs, handmade items, and entrepreneurs. Limited free space is still available to our local producers. VIRTUAL COMIC DRAWING WORKSHOP:
The Troy Public Library will host a Virtual Comic Drawing Workshop with Ira Marcks on Monday, August 16th at 6PM. In this one hour, all ages workshop, Ira will share a look at the creative process behind his new book and lead you through a fun and easy cartooning project. To follow along all you’ll need is a pencil and paper. This interactive workshop is for comics fans of all ages and abilities. The Oyven experience centers on a mobile, outdoor brick oven. Come share food, art and ideas where everyone is fed, physically, spiritually and emotionally. Join us to bake flat breads and more while engaging in Jewish texts, dialogue, music and stories with celebrity Brazilian chef Mauricio Schuartz and other talented presenters.
