MARYELLEN T. CELESTE
Saratoga Springs, NY – Maryellen (Luce) Biggie Thompson Celeste passed away peacefully on Saturday July 31, 2021 at the Wesley Health Care Center after years of excellent care from 4th floor Victoria.
She was born in Saratoga Springs on October 27, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Mary DesJardins and Ernest Luce. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her son and daughter-in-law, Charaline and Richard A. Biggie, Jr.; her great grandson, Nicholas Kapusniak; her step-father, Webster DesJardins; and her husband’s Richard A. Biggie, Sr., George Thompson; and Albert Celeste. Maryellen was a lifelong member of the Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 420 on Excelsior Ave. in Saratoga for over 57 years. She served 15 years as President and many years as secretary. Maryellen was a Past President of Hudson Mohawk Community Council and served a year as Third District Secretary. She was a life member and Past Commander of Auxiliary to the Disabled Veterans Unit 158, serving many years as Adjutant. Maryellen was a charter member and Past President of the Auxiliary to the Military Order of the Cooties Pup Tent #33. She was their Past District President and served as Grand Secretary for 15 years. She was a 35 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit Seventy and a life member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #2586.
She is survived by her daughter, Alberta (Charles) Bennett of Saratoga Springs and her son, Daniel (Carol) Biggie of Wilton; and leaves behind a loving family of 11 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were private and burial followed in the family plot in Maplewood Cemetery, Weibel Avenue.
