-

Saratoga SpringsEloise “Lee” Casertino, age 93, passed away surrounded by her loving family on August 5, 2021. Eloise was born on July 20, 1928, in Watertown NY, the daughter of the late Norma Irene Smith and Harry James Seaman. Her brother Eddie introduced her to a Saratoga Springs man, Peter “Joseph” Casertino, with whom he worked. Mom moved to Saratoga Springs in 1949 and lived her life in what she referred to as “a sweet little town”. Mom worked in many local restaurants in Saratoga, her longest tenure being the Spa City Diner where she worked for over 35 years. Mom had a tremendous sense of humor and a remarkable memory. Mention any Saratoga family or name any Saratoga person and she was a walking history book. After retirement mom volunteered for a number of years at the Senior Center where she ran the gift shop and assisted in the kitchen. She was an avid reader, often reading 2-3 novels a week, loved word search puzzles and would never miss Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy. She was generous and caring and would lend a hand to anyone in need. Her greatest joy and the center of her life were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents Norma and Harry Seaman, her husband Peter Joseph Casertino who passed away in 1987, her brother Harry Seaman (Theresa), Edward “Squeaky” Seaman (Jane), and her sister Carole Ondek (Bob). She is survived by her children, Norma Anne Reed-Francis (Carl), Peter D Casertino (Joyce), Nicholas J Casertino, Gloria Lana Casertino and Joseph J. Casertino. In addition, she leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews all of whom she loved and cherished. The family would like to express gratitude to Dr. Pezzullo and the Palliative Care team and to the Community Hospice team, particularly Nurse Alice Benfey for all their kindness and support during this difficult time. A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave, Saratoga Springs, New York.
