FREE CONCERT: Hudson Crossing Park (HCP) is pleased to present a free community concert featuring handbell choir The Batten Kill Bell Ringers on Thursday, August 12, 2021at 6pm under the HCP pavilion. Directed by Debi Craig, the group will be playing an assortment of patriotic, classical, sacred, and folk music. They will also be joined on two selections by The Union Village Ringers, another community handbell choir led by Craig. Composed of ringers are from Greenwich, Easton, Victory, Schuylerville, and Saratoga, some members have been playing together since 1978. Both groups rehearse at the Bottskill Baptist Church in Greenwich and have performed at the Danforth in Hoosick Falls, The Cambridge Guest Home, and for the Holiday Community Sing at Hebron United Presbyterian Church. This event is free and open to the public, although donations to support Hudson Crossing Park are gratefully accepted. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and/or picnic blankets to enjoy the show. Hudson Crossing Park is a 501(c)
(3) non-profit, bi-county park located in Schuylerville, centered on Champlain Canal Lock 5Island just outside of the village of Schuylerville on historic Route 4. SENIORS MEETING: The Ballston Area Seniors will temporarily be holding meetings at the Fitness & Cycle Gym, next to the China City, in the Hannaford Plaza at 15 Trieble Ave. in Milton. Starting July 1, we will be resuming our weekly meetings on every Thursday of the month.
Doors will open at 10:30 am, for the sales of 50⁄50, crafter sales, socializing and cards. At noon lunch, and at 12:30a General meeting will be held and Bingo will follow the meeting. Friday, Aug. 13 POND EXPLORATION:
Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park’s popular Pond Exploration Programs will be running every Friday throughout August and September! Revolving around discovering aquatic wildlife at Delegan Pond, this scheduled reoccurring program is taking place every Friday from 10:30am11:30am. Participants can use the dip nets that are provided to search for pond life, including frogs, salamanders, tadpoles, crayfish, and aquatic insects. Registration is required. Space is limited. The Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park is a non-profit organization that conserves ecological systems and natural settings while providing opportunities for environmental education and outdoor recreation. FAMILY FUN FRIDAYS: Take a playful trip back in time to the 18th century every Friday afternoon of the summer break at Brookside Museum, located at 6 Charlton St. in Ballston Spa. Children, along with their parents, are invited to join reenactors Erin and Henry in playing with reproductions of centuries-old toys and games. The calendar may read 2021, but Fridays at Brookside will be like 1771! “Family Fun Fridays” is a limited series: July 30 and Aug 6, 13, and 20, from 2-4 p.m. The events are free and open to the public, though participation may be limited depending on numbers. Donations are appreciated. In addition to the historical games and interactions, Brookside Museum will be open on those days, 1-5 p.m. There are four brand new exhibits, including the innovative “Social Life of Hats” display and the exhibition on Stewart’s Shops and the Dake Family (sponsored by Stewart’s). Saturday, Aug. 14 BAKER FAMILY REUNION:
The 156th Baker Family Reunion will only meet virtually this year because of the lingering effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. The meeting will be held virtually on Zoom on August 14at 1:00 pm. Baker said it was decided to cancel the 2021 in-person Reunion out of an abundance of caution. The 2022 reunion will once again be held in person. This is only the third time an in-person reunion has been cancelled since it was first held in 1865. The other year was 1943, in the depths of WWII.
WATERFORD MEET THE CANDIDATES:

It was cancelled last year due to Covid-19but this year it’s back and will be on August 14and 15. The CMA’s mission is to encourage business-minded people to serve their community with efficiency and promote high ethical standards in industry, professions, public works, and private endeavors. Their goal is to provide support, encouragement, and consultation to new and established businesses in Corinth and the downtown Community Message Board between Rocco’s and Corinth Wine and Liquors is open for use to their members as well as community non-profit organizations. They are holding meetings each month via zoom. The dues have remained at $50 per year to help defray expenses for these projects. The final Temple Sinai program for the Saratoga Jewish Cultural Festival presents a Zoom discussion and celebration of Black culture with Homecoming: A Film by Beyonce on August 15at 7 p.m. The documentary film, a highly celebrated Netflix documentary and 2019Emmy Award nominee, is presented with a generous grant from the Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York. SUNDAY SUMMER STROLL:
After a sold-out season of Summer Sunday Strolls in 2020, the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation is thrilled to announce that this year’s stroll series is underway. These historic walking tours will be offered every Sunday through September 5th at 10:30 a.m. in various neighborhoods throughout the city. All Sunday morning tours last approximately 90 minutes and require walking and standing on varied terrain. Tours will be limited to thirty and tickets must be purchased in advance.
The cost per tour is $15for SSPF members and $20for non-members. Members who have received complimentary Stroll passes will have those honored for their value of $10 and will be required to pay the difference of $5. Sunday, Aug. 15 — The Spa Complex. Join Linda Harvey on a tour of the Spa Complex which is the core of the Spa State Park, National Historic
Landmark. Learn the history leading to its development which involved key local and national individuals while exploring the architecture and landscape. DHARMA MEDITATION:

The Troy Public Library will host a Virtual Comic Drawing Workshop with Ira Marcks on Monday, August 16th at 6PM. In this one hour, all ages workshop, Ira will share a look at the creative process behind his new book and lead you through a fun and easy cartooning project. To follow along all you’ll need is a pencil and paper. This interactive workshop is for comics fans of all ages and abilities. Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park is continuing to host Nature Craft Hours under the pavilion at Camp Saratoga every Tuesday throughout August and September! This program runs from 4:00pm-5:00pm and is geared for children of all ages. Each Tuesday will feature a different and creative nature-themed arts project. Activities are TBA but have included sun prints, natural tie dye, seed medallions and more! Please note, there is a craft supply fee of $3per participant.
