PRINCIPLES, PHILOSOPHY AND ORGANIZATION OF HS ATHLETICS: Two of the courses required to coach in New York State high schools Principles, Philosophy and Organization of High School Athletics and Theories and Techniques of Coaching and will be taught in August in Saratoga at Saratoga Catholic Central High School, 247 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
Classes run Saturday, August 14and Sunday, August 15. Participants must attend all class sessions listed in order to complete the course. The classes will run from 7a.m. to 5 p.m.
The cost is $225if registered prior to July 20; $275if registered after July 20. Tuition fees are nonrefundable but can be applied to future classes. Contact John Metallo at

Public Skating, Open Adult Hockey, and Stick Sessions are Back at the Saratoga Springs Ice Rinks: The Saratoga Springs Recreation Department is offering weekend Family Skate, Family Stick, Open Public, Open Stick, and Open Adult Hockey sessions at the Weibel Avenue Ice Rinks. Participants must register and pre-pay online. Visit www.SaratogaRec. com and click the blue “Online Registration” button to create an account or to register. City residents can begin to register Monday of each week for that weekends’s sessions. Non-City residents can begin to register Wednesday of each week for that weekend’s sessions.
For safety and social distancing purposes participation is limited to groups of 20for Family Stick, Open Stick, and Open Adult Hockey (excluding Goalies), and 35for Family Skate and Open Public.
Fees for Family Skate and Open Public are $4for City residents and $5for Non-City residents. Fees for Family Stick, Open Stick, and Open Adult Hockey are $9for City residents and $11 for all others. Goalies for Open Adult Hockey are free. No refunds will be given. No walks in allowed.
Skate rentals will be available for an additional $5. Skate rental payments will be accepted by cash or check (made out to Commissioner of Finance) only. Participants must wear a mask at all times.

Open Gym is Back at the Saratoga Springs Recreation Center: The Saratoga Springs Recreation Department is offering Open Gym Monday-Friday at the Recreation Center at 15 Vanderbilt Avenue. Reservations can be made up to 7days in advance, and closes within one hour of the session start time. For safety and social distancing purposes participation is limited to groups of 10per court. Fees are $4for City residents and $5for Non-City residents. No refunds will be given. No walks in allowed.
