CCP and CDPHP to form new partnership

- Staff report

CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. » Two of the Capital Region’s leading health care organizations are joining forces.

Recently Community Care Physicians (CCP) and Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan, Inc. (CDPHP) announced that they are teaming up to further enhance the quality and experience of care for patients throughout the region while maintaining the autonomy of CCP’s clinical practice.

As part of the partnership, CCP and CDPHP will create a new management services organization (MSO) that will provide the administrative, non-patient care work needed to run the doctors’ offices. The MSO will be under the CDPHP umbrella, separate from our clinical practices, and will support all non-clinical functions for the CCP family of practices, allowing our doctors and clinicians to continue to focus their time and attention on taking care of our patients.

What does this mean for patients?

The new MSO will function not dissimilarly to how the back-office functions now in CCP. While the MSO is working in the background to develop new and innovative ways to take care of patients, CCP practitioners will continue to provide patients care. In fact, by CCP and CDPHP working more closely together, they expect that patients will experience greater coordination in care and an improved patient experience.

What’s different: Community Care Physicians will be a PLLC instead of a PC (this is a legal formality).

All non-clinical staff will be part of the MSO.

What’s not different:

The care patients receive — there will be no interruption in the care you receive.

Patients’ practitioners — Patients will continue to see your practitioners in their current locations under the same practice names.

The teams’ patients see in the office — the team members patients are used to seeing in the office will remain there, even if technically part of the MSO.

The insurances CCP accepts — patients do not need to be a CDPHP member to be seen by a Community Care provider. CCP will continue to accept patients with all types of insurances.

Premiums will not change as a result of this partnership. In fact, according to CCP, they expect the cost of care to be reduced through greater care coordination. Their teams will be working in lockstep to ensure our patients get the right care, at the right place, at the right time. Partnering together, they note they’re confident they can improve the health of the community, which will lead to lower health care costs for all.

What are the two hoping to gain from the partnership?:

It makes referrals easier in the network.

It reduces prior authorizations.

It allows quicker access to specialties.

It removes the hassle factor and improves care and coordination.

It improves access to data.

It assists with attracting new talent, which means greater access to care and services for you.

It helps us innovate with

technologies that will improve your experience and the experience of your practices.

For more than 35 years, CCP has been an independent organization with physicians at the helm guiding the organization and seeing firsthand how those decisions affect patient care. This partnership allows the CCP family of practices to continue as an independent organization with physician oversight, which leads to better decisions and better care.

What we do day in and day out and why we’re here is to improve the lives and health of our patients, and that will always be our beacon and what drives us forward. We’re incredibly excited to begin this journey with CDPHP, and we look forward to helping our patients live longer, healthier, and happier lives.

Both are awaiting approvals by the necessary State agencies, and the partnership is expected to be finalized by Dec. 31, 2021.
