Capital Roots unveils new expansion
Just in time for the holidays, Capital Roots held a nontraditional groundbreaking ceremony for construction on a massive expansion building.
The recent ceremony, which also marked the launch of the public fundraising campaign for the new building, was heavily attended with guests including state and local officials.
The expansion building, which will become the new Urban Grow Center for Capital Roots, is projected to be completed sometime in Sept. 2022. The current Market is housed inside the Capital Roots headquarters on River St and is tapped to capacity, seeing a 600% increase in use during the pandemic.
The new Urban Grow Center building will also have a second regional Food Hub that will process and prepare food for local schools and charities and an incubator kitchen for the development and support of local food-based businesses. The expansion has been a plan for Capital Roots for 15 years, and Klein is thrilled to finally see it become a reality. The building will be built by Trinity Construction, a Saratoga-based company.
“We’ve worked very closely with Amy for this project. We’re super proud and excited to be part of it,” said Susan Home with Trinity.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, many officials expressed joy and ongoing support for the expansion.
“Thank you all for the drive behind
