Four charged in Spa City burglary

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. » Saratoga Springs police recently arrested Michael C. Green, 18, of Saratoga Springs, Christophe­r C. Rothaupt, 20, of Saratoga Springs, Evan A. Jenkins, 18, of Gansevoort, and Eric T. Murray, 27, of Saratoga Springs.

All four were charged with felony first-degree burglary, felony first-degree robbery, felony fourthdegr­ee conspiracy, misdemeano­r second-degree menacing, misdemeano­r endangerin­g the welfare of a child and misdemeano­r petit larceny.

Arrests were made at a residence on Division Street. The initial call to 9-1-1 came from a 28-year-old male victim.

The victim reported he had gone outside his home to speak with a male acquaintan­ce who called the victim a short time before the 9-1-1 call. Once outside the victim discovered three additional males with his acquaintan­ce. All five then went into the victim’s home, where the four listed above proceeded to steal property from the home of the victim.

During the incident, one of the four displayed what appeared to be a pistol and they threatened to shoot the victim if the victim caused any issues. As the event unfolded the victim’s six-year-old son, who had been asleep in a bedroom, woke up and witnessed the event.

The four then left the residence by vehicle and the victim called 9-1-1.

Officers on patrol were able to locate the suspect vehicle shortly after the 9-1-1 call and took all four into custody without incident. The weapon involved was found to be an imitation pistol that appeared to be similar to a Glock handgun. No injuries were reported.

The four were arraigned in Saratoga Springs City Court and remanded to Saratoga County Jail on $25,000 cash/ $50,000 bond.
