Upcoming events and programs from Capital Region YMCA
Capital District YMCA announces its roster of programs and events for the month of March 2023, which kicks off with CDYMCA Night at the Siena Men’s Basketball Game and the Saint of the Month ceremony. Other CDYMA events in March include:
• March 13: Community Pint Night for Glenville YMCA branch at Frog Alley Brewing, Schenectady
• March 16: RENSCO Basketball and Brews fundraiser for the Rensselaer County YMCAs at Brown’s Brewing Company, Troy (4-7 p.m., $40 per ticket)
• March 18: FREE pass day at all CDYMCA branches with special events happening at all branches, in coordination with Les Mills Body Pump Launch
• March 25: Youth and Government Summit Experience with 500 Youth and Government students from around New York State and politicians, advocates, and lobbyists at the Capitol (8:45-11 a.m.)
• March 30: President’s Awards at the Albany Capital Center, honoring eight branches, Highmark healthcare company as Corporation of the year, Volunteer of the Year, and Lifetime Achievement. These awards are retroactive to the 2020 ceremonies, which were delayed because of the pandemic.
CDYMCA continues its partnership with SHRED, an Albany-based life and career skills program for youth in the Capital Region through snowboarding and skateboarding, throughout the month of March. Spots are still available for Albany area children interested in learning how to snowboard and partake in the business operations of a ski center. Participants are provided passes to Stratton Mountain in Vermont and all necessary gear, plus transport to the mountain and back, totaling $4,000 per participant.
