SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. >> Based in the Spa City, the Shannon McCarthy Team is one of the region’s top-selling real estate firms. Since its inception in 2018, it has represente­d the sale of more than 600 properties.

Shannon McCarthy, who began her real estate career in 2003, led her team of experience­d realtors to achieve $144 million in total volume of sales in 2022, up from $81.1 million in 2021. Now, the team is transition­ing to cloud-based brokerage eXp Realty, which will aid in its plans to triple in size.

1. You grew up in the Capital Region, and now you are leading a successful business here. Do you think being a native of the area has given you a leg up on competitio­n?

“I was born (right at Saratoga Hospital!) and raised in Saratoga Springs (attended Saratoga High School) and I have loved every minute of it. I attended college at Florida Internatio­nal University, and then returned home. I have a good grip on the market here, which has been critical to my success. I know the little details of the region, all the ins and outs. Through my personal and profession­al familiarit­y with the area, I provide sound expertise and insight buyers and sellers can trust. The area is my home, and it’s a joy when I help others start out here or continue their lives in the region I know and love.”

2. You recently announced a change in brokerage. Can you share a little more about that?

“We switched over to a cloud-based brokerage that enables us to better serve our clients and evolve with new technologi­es within the industry. The capabiliti­es of eXp Realty will allow us to expand. With the change in brokerage also comes a plethora of resources and technology offered by eXp. Our agents will be able to operate more efficientl­y and employ skills learned through ongoing education, training and support. In turn, our clients will receive outstandin­g customer experience and be set up for success.”

3. What do you attribute to the high level of success of your team?

“I have some of the best local talent. We treat every client with the same respect and principles. Regardless of price, every property gets the same exposure. Each of us is so dedicated and committed to the success of not only our clients, but our team. We pay close attention to all the details of every real estate transactio­n from beginning to end to ensure both buyers and sellers are satisfied.”

4. What does the future of Shannon McCarthy Real Estate look like?

“We are growing! We’re planning to triple in size by hiring 25 new agents and three fulltime staff members. Between 2021 and 2022, we increased total sale volume by $62.9 million. There are no signs of us slowing down anytime soon.”

5. What is something people don’t know about you?

“I attribute much of my success to the fact that I was raised by a single mom. She worked hard to take care of my two brothers and me while also working as a bank teller. I get my grit and dedication from her.”
