WSWHE BOCES students to be recognized in ceremony
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. >> WSWHE BOCES students will be recognized for their works being selected for publication at a special ceremony on May 9.
For 38 years, the Enrichment Resource Center at WSWHE BOCES has been publishing student work in the annual Talent Unlimited Literary Arts Journal. The journal features outstanding poems, essays, drawings, photographs, and graphic designs created by students in grades 7-12. The content is selected by a jury of professional artists and writers. This year’s journal has been dedicated to the memory of Phyllis Aldrich who started Talent Unlimited in 1986.
Students selected for publication this year are being honored at a Recognition Ceremony at the WSWHE BOCES Ballard Road Conference Center on Ballard Road in Wilton on May 9 at 7 pm. This year 61 students from 21 of the component school districts will participate. The accepted pieces will be exhibited and students have been invited to read their works. The featured guest speaker this year is Jenny Hutchinson, a local artist.
This year for the first time, a Talent Unlimited Art Exhibit Honoree will be chosen. The honoree will be announced at the Recognition Ceremony. The chosen work of art will be on display for the next year in the lobby of the WSWHE BOCES Ballard Road Conference Center.
Students who submitted their work for Talent Unlimited also had the option to have their work submitted for selection for the Saratoga Performing Arts Center’s Festival of Young Artists celebration to be held at SPAC on June 4. Eighteen works of art and four literary pieces created by Talent Unlimited students were chosen by SPAC for the Festival. All Talent Unlimited students have been invited to exhibit their work at the Lake George Arts Project Courtyard Gallery in Lake George, N.Y. in June.
