Section 2 girls’ postseason tournament bracket seedings released

On Wednesday, Section 2 released the sectional girls’ playoff basketball tournament bracket seedings. Shenendeho­wa (AAA), Averill Park (AA), Catholic Central (A), Albany Academy (B), Greenwich (C), and Northville (D) all garnered the top seed in their respective brackets. Championsh­ips for Class A, B, and C will be on Saturday, March 2, while championsh­ips for Class AAA and D will be held on Monday, March 4. All championsh­ip games will be held at Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC).

Class AAA action tips off next Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 6 p.m., as No. 4 Colonie hosts No.5 Saratoga Springs for the right to play No. 1 Shenendeho­wa at HVCC on Feb. 29 at 7:30 p.m. On the other side of the bracket, No. 3 Shaker hosts No. 6 Schenectad­y at 6 p.m. with the winner advancing to play No. 2 Albany at HVCC on Feb. 29 at 6 p.m.

Class AA postseason play tips off on Friday, Feb. 16 with No. 8 Mohonasen hosting No. 9 Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake at 6 p.m., with the winner traveling to play No. 1 Averill Park at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 24. Also of note in Class A, No. 2 Columbia will host the winner of No. 7 Guilderlan­d and No. 10 Amsterdam, on Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m. Plus, No. 6 Ballston Spa hosts No. 11 Troy on Friday, Feb. 16, for the chance to advance and play No. 3 Bethlehem, at Columbia High School on Feb. 24, at 6 p.m.

Class A playoffs will see No. 1 Catholic Central host the winner of No. 8 Gloversvil­le and No. 9 Hudson Falls, on Friday, Feb. 23, at 7:30 p.m. Also of note, No. 7 Emma Willard hosts No. 10 Cohoes, on Friday, Feb. 16, at 6 p.m., for the right to play at No. 2 Holy Names, on Feb. 23, at 7:30 p.m.

Class B playoffs start on Saturday, Feb. 17, as No. 8 Watervliet hosts No. 9 Tamarac, at 6 p.m., with the winner advancing to play at No. 1 Albany Academy, on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m. Also at 6 p.m., No. 4 Stillwater hosts No. 13 La Salle and the winner of that contest plays the winner of No. 5 Coxsackie-Athens and No. 12 Schuylervi­lle, on Feb. 21 at Albany Academy, at 6 p.m.

Also of note on the other side of the bracket, at 6 p.m., the winners of Feb. 17 games between No. 3 Mechanicvi­lle and No. 14 Voorheesvi­lle, and No. 6 Corinth and No. 11 Catskill will play each other on Feb. 21 at Greenville, at 6 p.m.

Class C action begins on Saturday, Feb. 17, as No. 8 Hoosick Falls hosts No. 9 O.E.S.J. at 6 p.m. with the winner advancing to play at No. 1 Greenwich at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 22. Also playing on Saturday, at 6 p.m., the winners of No. 4 Warrensbur­g and No. 13 Waterford-Halfmoon will face the winner of No. 5 Maple Hill and No. 12 Whitehall, on Feb. 22 at Greenwich at 6 p.m.

Also of note in Class C, on Saturday at 6 p.m., No. 7 Cambridge hosts No. 10 Hadley Luzerne for the right to play at No. 2 Duanesburg, on Feb. 22, at 7:30 p.m.

Class D action tips off on Feb. 20, as No. 4 Saratoga Catholic hosts No. 5 Salem, at 6 p.m., with the winner advancing to play No. 1 Northville on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Averill Park, at 7:30 p.m.
