Dear Fabric Girl,

- Sandy

You are a girl after my own heart – my passion is fabrics. I can’t get enough of all the patterns, colors and textures that are available to us and I also carry swatches and photos of some of my favorites.

You mentioned that you have quite a lot of this fabric and after reading your dimensions we should have enough to use it on your windows so that it takes center stage, as it should.

I am very familiar with this timeless pattern and have actually used it on a sofa in a French inspired home.

I like the idea of the upholstered headboard and suggest that we

cover it in the solid cream colored linen and we can add detailing to it by using nail heads or trim.

The velvet geometric print is the key to updating this look and will be perfect upholstery fabric for two club style chairs in the window area. I like the way the texture appears in these colors and the fabric content will be very comfy and cozy.

Since we have a lot of pattern and color on the windows let’s keep the duvet simple and elegant by using the tobacco colored embroidered faux silk fabric. Using a down filled insert and adding lovely trim we will really bring the “wow” factor in.

And there is no better way to get the “luxury hotel” look than to use the paisley patterned polished cotton to create a Scaldino.

A Scaldino is the term for the European flat fold throw that lies at the foot of the bed. Your guests will love the versatility of the Scaldino since it is also the perfect throw while you are in the club chairs.

Now let’s talk paint. With the large scale size of your window we have the freedom to explore a rich color such as Valspar Cosmopolitan Olive #5008-2C. I like the way this will play off of the drapery pattern and the neutrals on the bed will really stand out.

For the ceiling let’s do Valspar Smoke Infusion #5002-1B and for the trim I like Valspar Gilded Linen #6002-1A.

I think the finishing touch to the room would be to add a pair of painted bedside chests in a soft white or cream and use black and white framed photos to bring in the personal touches.

Don’t forget a small vase of fresh flowers, some books and magazines and I suggest a mix of mints and individually wrapped homemade cookies – like the chocolates on the pillow in a fine hotel. These are the little details that let your guests know you care.

Now all you have to do is send out the invites and enjoy your guests. They sure will enjoy the pampering.
