Salty Oyster

- Story and Photos by MANDIE GOBER

An

old favorite has gotten new owners, new food and a new name. After working in the food industry all his life Chris McMillan, along with his wife Amy, decided it was the right time to become owners of Salty Oyster Grill, formerly Grampa’s Catfish located at 1020 Airport Road.

“I started work at the local fast food chain early in life and have just a love of great food and hospitality,” said Chris. “God has really opened doors for us and we feel like this is the perfect fit.”

The menu has changed to add a little more seafood variety including oysters, Mahi Mahi and Rainbow Trout, but of course they kept local favorites on the list such as Grampa’s famous catfish. The grill also offers steaks grilled to perfection and family friendly dishes like down-home macaroni and cheese. The service, as always, has been the heart of the restaurant and that has not changed.

“We know we would not be here if it wasn’t for our great staff and chefs,” said Chris. “They are the reason people keep coming back and telling their friends, and we do not take that for granted.”

Overall, Salty Oyster Grill is a great option for those looking for a relaxing night out with a mouthwatering meal.

“We wanted to keep some of the things that made this place great, but add a bit of ourselves as well,” he said. “We don’t want to just serve up dishes, we want our customers to know how much we appreciate their business and want to give them the best meal for their money. We know there are other options, we want to be able to offer something different.”

Since opening, Salty Oyster Grill has continued to grow according to McMillan.

“We know there are good things to come for us and we are excited to see where this leads,” he said.

Salty Oyster Grill is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week and also offers catering services and take out.
