Voss & Botsford

-

Larry Botsford of Little Rock never formally proposed to Ellen Voss of Hot Springs, but driving to Florida in a Corvette one September day in 2013, the two began talking about marriage.

Botsford is a member of the Central Arkansas Corvette Club in Little Rock and met Voss when two of their friends from the CACC introduced them. Their first date was on April 18, 2013, at the CACC Car Show in Hot Springs, after Botsford said he had to get through tax season before meeting Voss. Botsford's friend mentioned Voss wasn't looking for a husband and he responded that was a shame because he would make a very good husband.

The drive to Florida in September 2013 brought

talks of marriage to the table but plans had to be postponed when Botsford underwent a surgery that took a toll on his health. After he recovered a friend helped Voss and Botsford design the engagement ring and the couple made it official Sept. 4, 2014. The big day: Nov. 1, 2014

Best Man and Maid of Honor: The Best Man was Wayne Newton of Dallas, who is Larry's first cousin. The Maid of Honor was Jerri Roper of Hot Springs, Ellen's close friend of many years.

The location: First United Methodist Church, Hot Springs.

The reception: The reception was held at The Warehouse, an event venue owned by Pam Hill. The three tier wedding cake was a beautiful and tasty vanilla cake with rosette ivory butter cream frosting, topped with fall leaves and flowers. The groom's cake was chocolate with vanilla fondant with a

Corvette logo.

The look: When I began talking with Pam Hill about the reception, I was thinking neutral colors and she suggested we use fall colors with a splash of eggplant and we went with it. She used those colors with tablecloths, runners and floral arrangements. Those warm colors made the room warm and cozy on a cool November evening. When I walked in Hot Springs Florist to select the wedding flowers, they had an arrangement made up with the same colors in the cooler and I told her I wanted those for my bouquet and the Maid of Honor. They also made two tall arrangements for the altar in those colors with willow branches. The Maid of Honor wore a dress in eggplant color and the groom wore a tie in an orchid shade. Both the groom and the Best Man wore black suits with white shirts.

The dress: When I tried on my dress at Dillard's I knew it was the one. It was a long tiered sheath dress in champagne color with a matching jacket. I wore nude heels and pearl and crystal bracelets, and crystal earrings. I carried one of my grandmother's handkerchiefs.

Most unforgettable moment: Pastor Zack made our ceremony so sweet and personal, and so perfect for a couple of our age. We have talked so much about how special it was to have so many of our friends and family with us to show their love and support and have fun at the reception with us. Larry said it was a perfect day!

The honeymoon: We went on a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean along with our friends, Jerri and Al.
