Of­fice Re­cruiters is a cer­ti­fied wo­man-owned staffing firm serving the cen­tral Arkansas area. Pres­i­dent and owner Kelly Slay­den has more than 25 years of staffing, re­cruit­ing and hu­man re­source ex­pe­ri­ence in small-to-global com­pa­nies and has served in many roles in­clud­ing pres­i­dent, vice pres­i­dent of op­er­a­tions, branch man­ager, divi­sion di­rec­tor and re­cruiter. Ac­cord­ing to the Of­fice Re­cruiters web­site at http://www.of­fi­cere­cruiters.com, the busi­ness has earned the cer­ti­fi­ca­tion as a women’s busi­ness en­ter­prise through the Women’s Busi­ness En­ter­prise Na­tional Coun­cil, the na­tion’s largest third-party cer­ti­fier of busi­nesses owned by women in the United States. They are only one of three staffing firms in Arkansas to have re­ceived this des­ig­na­tion.

How long has Of­fice Re­cruiters been around? Kelly Slay­den:

Of­fice Re­cruiters was es­tab­lished in Fe­bru­ary 2005 in Lit­tle Rock. We have placed hun­dreds of in­di­vid­u­als in tem­po­rary, longterm tem­po­rary and per­ma­nent po­si­tions in the cen­tral Arkansas area.

What got you in­ter­ested in this line of work? KS:

I have al­ways en­joyed work­ing with peo­ple and build­ing re­la­tion­ships. I can’t think of a bet­ter way to im­pact a life than to give some­one a job op­por­tu­nity. A good job al­lows a per­son to take care of their fam­ily and gives them so much pride and con­fi­dence. When a har­mo­nious match be­tween em­ployee and client is suc­cess­ful, it’s in­cred­i­bly re­ward­ing to me. It means I’ve done my job. Not only does the per­son meet the skill qual­i­fi­ca­tions, they are a cul­tural fit for the com­pany. I think I have the best job in the world!

Why would you say your work is im­por­tant to the community? KS:

Giv­ing back to the community is a core value for Of­fice Re­cruiters. By pro­vid­ing job op­por­tu­ni­ties in the Hot Springs area, Of­fice Re­cruiters di­rectly im­pacts both the em­ployee’s per­sonal eco­nomic po­si­tion as well as the community’s econ­omy. We also reg­u­larly give back to the community by pro­vid­ing re­sources and ser­vices for less for­tu­nate in­di­vid­u­als.

How long has the Hot Springs lo­ca­tion been open? KS:

Although we have just opened our of­fice in Hot Springs, we have been serving the area since 2007. Our new Hot Springs lo­ca­tion opened in Au­gust 2016 in­side The Greater Hot Springs Cham­ber of Com­merce build­ing. We are so ex­cited about this ex­pan­sion and look for­ward to serving even more peo­ple and com­pa­nies in the area.

What ex­actly does Of­fice Re­cruiters do/what ser­vices do you of­fer? KS:

Of­fice Re­cruiters fo­cuses on tem­po­rary, temp-to-hire, and di­rect-hire place­ments. We have the abil­ity to place di­rect hire pro­fes­sional can­di­dates through­out the United States and part­ner reg­u­larly with top-notch staffing re­cruiters that have spe­cialty net­works for vir­tu­ally any in­dus­try type in­clud­ing man­u­fac­tur­ing, oil/ gas, ac­count­ing/fi­nance, med­i­cal, qual­ity and all types of engi­neer­ing.

What kinds of jobs do you nor­mally fill at Of­fice Re­cruiters? KS:

For al­most a decade, Of­fice Re­cruiters has suc­cess­fully served the gov­ern­ment sec­tor. We are con­sid­ered a val­ued staffing part­ner and con­sis­tently meet the rig­or­ous re­quire­ments needed by our gov­ern­ment cus­tomers. As a cer­ti­fied wo­man-owned busi­ness, Of­fice Re­cruiters pro­vides our gov­ern­ment cus­tomers with the ven­dor di­ver­sity re­quired for their con­tracts. Ad­di­tion­ally, our team is also ded­i­cated to as­sist­ing other clients, re­gard­less of in­dus­try, with their unique re­cruit­ing needs. Whether hir­ing one em­ployee or staffing a large call cen­ter, you can count on us! Our ex­pert re­cruiters rou­tinely place top tal­ent in po­si­tions such as cler­i­cal, ad­min­is­tra­tive and pro­fes­sional.

How many em­ploy­ees do you have? KS:

We cur­rently have three in­ter­nal staff. The num­ber of con­trac­tors on as­sign­ment varies greatly due to the con­tin­gent na­ture of our busi­ness.

What is your school­ing and pre­vi­ous work back­ground? KS:

Bach­e­lor of Sci­ence in Or­ga­ni­za­tional Man­age­ment, Summa Cum Laude; Pro­fes­sional in Hu­man Re­sources (PHR); and Cer­ti­fied Pro­fes­sional (CP-SHRM) through the So­ci­ety of Hu­man Re­source Man­age­ment.

What does your fam­ily con­sist of? KS:

My hus­band and chil­dren have al­ways sup­ported me and have con­trib­uted so much to the suc­cess of Of­fice Re­cruiters. I have been able to truly live my dream be­cause of my fam­ily’s en­cour­age­ment and help. It’s sort of a “rite of pas­sage” to work at least two to three Of­fice Re­cruiters job fairs. Each and ev­ery mem­ber of my fam­ily, hus­band and chil­dren in­cluded, have learned what it re­ally means to be a fam­ily owned busi­ness.

What are your hob­bies out­side of work? KS:

Let’s just say, “woooo … pig … sooooiie!” We are huge Ra­zor­back fans and love noth­ing more than tail­gat­ing with our fam­ily on game day. We also en­joy trav­el­ing and spend­ing time with friends. When we are not trav­el­ing, or go­ing to games, we are hang­ing out with friends and fam­ily at the pool. I do try and take a few min­utes daily to play Candy Crush. It’s prob­a­bly bet­ter to play the game ver­sus eat real candy.
