IMPACTING lives through jobs

- Interview conducted by Lindsey Wells

Office Recruiters is a certified woman-owned staffing firm serving the central Arkansas area. President and owner Kelly Slayden has more than 25 years of staffing, recruiting and human resource experience in small-to-global companies and has served in many roles including president, vice president of operations, branch manager, division director and recruiter. According to the Office Recruiters website at http://www.officerecruiters.com, the business has earned the certification as a women’s business enterprise through the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, the nation’s largest third-party certifier of businesses owned by women in the United States. They are only one of three staffing firms in Arkansas to have received this designation.

How long has Office Recruiters been around? Kelly Slayden:

Office Recruiters was established in February 2005 in Little Rock. We have placed hundreds of individuals in temporary, longterm temporary and permanent positions in the central Arkansas area.

What got you interested in this line of work? KS:

I have always enjoyed working with people and building relationships. I can’t think of a better way to impact a life than to give someone a job opportunity. A good job allows a person to take care of their family and gives them so much pride and confidence. When a harmonious match between employee and client is successful, it’s incredibly rewarding to me. It means I’ve done my job. Not only does the person meet the skill qualifications, they are a cultural fit for the company. I think I have the best job in the world!

Why would you say your work is important to the community? KS:

Giving back to the community is a core value for Office Recruiters. By providing job opportunities in the Hot Springs area, Office Recruiters directly impacts both the employee’s personal economic position as well as the community’s economy. We also regularly give back to the community by providing resources and services for less fortunate individuals.

How long has the Hot Springs location been open? KS:

Although we have just opened our office in Hot Springs, we have been serving the area since 2007. Our new Hot Springs location opened in August 2016 inside The Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce building. We are so excited about this expansion and look forward to serving even more people and companies in the area.

What exactly does Office Recruiters do/what services do you offer? KS:

Office Recruiters focuses on temporary, temp-to-hire, and direct-hire placements. We have the ability to place direct hire professional candidates throughout the United States and partner regularly with top-notch staffing recruiters that have specialty networks for virtually any industry type including manufacturing, oil/ gas, accounting/finance, medical, quality and all types of engineering.

What kinds of jobs do you normally fill at Office Recruiters? KS:

For almost a decade, Office Recruiters has successfully served the government sector. We are considered a valued staffing partner and consistently meet the rigorous requirements needed by our government customers. As a certified woman-owned business, Office Recruiters provides our government customers with the vendor diversity required for their contracts. Additionally, our team is also dedicated to assisting other clients, regardless of industry, with their unique recruiting needs. Whether hiring one employee or staffing a large call center, you can count on us! Our expert recruiters routinely place top talent in positions such as clerical, administrative and professional.

How many employees do you have? KS:

We currently have three internal staff. The number of contractors on assignment varies greatly due to the contingent nature of our business.

What is your schooling and previous work background? KS:

Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management, Summa Cum Laude; Professional in Human Resources (PHR); and Certified Professional (CP-SHRM) through the Society of Human Resource Management.

What does your family consist of? KS:

My husband and children have always supported me and have contributed so much to the success of Office Recruiters. I have been able to truly live my dream because of my family’s encouragement and help. It’s sort of a “rite of passage” to work at least two to three Office Recruiters job fairs. Each and every member of my family, husband and children included, have learned what it really means to be a family owned business.

What are your hobbies outside of work? KS:

Let’s just say, “woooo … pig … sooooiie!” We are huge Razorback fans and love nothing more than tailgating with our family on game day. We also enjoy traveling and spending time with friends. When we are not traveling, or going to games, we are hanging out with friends and family at the pool. I do try and take a few minutes daily to play Candy Crush. It’s probably better to play the game versus eat real candy.
