ON THE COVER

Local artists Julie Williams and Roxy Rose are on the cover of our green issue for leading one of the MANY GREEN PROJECTS IN HOT SPRINGS. TO RAISE PUBLIC AWARENESS ABOUT OUR CITY’S WATER QUALITY AND STORMWATER drains, the Stormwater Division of the city asked Williams and Rose to paint murals on stormwater inlets on Park Avenue and Orange Street.

They weathered hot and cold temperatures for a month in August 2016 to complete the murals. The residents on Park Avenue and residents of the city turned out to help by using electric leaf blowers to clean off the areas to be painted, bring the artists water, and consistently check on their well-being.

Future plans are in the works to expand the project later in the year.
