First UMC associate pastor to take part in new institute

The Rev. Zach Roberts, associate pastor at First United Methodist Church, was chosen to take part in the new Institute for Clergy and Civic Engagement. He will attend the institute’s first of two classes to be held at Hendrix College in Conway. Ten ministers from across the nation were chosen to attend. It will begin in November and will include a mission trip next year centering on San Francisco in April.

Hendrix College was awarded a $ 500,000 grant from the Lilly Endowment Inc. in late 2014. The school created the program to further the leadership and ministry

skills.

St. Phillips COGIC to hold Women’s Day Service

St. Phillips COGIC, 237 Walnut St., will hold its Annual Women’s Day Service at 3 p. m. Sunday. Churches Got Talent to be held at Union Baptist

Churches Got Talent Saturday Night Live Dinner and Show will take place at Union Baptist Church Family Life Center, 219 Gulpha St., at 6: 30 p. m. today. Tickets cost $ 25 a person and support Arkansas Baptist College. It will be hosted by Southwest District, Division C. The show will feature various acts from district churches, including vocals, comedy, dance and more.

Union MBC 2015 Prayer and Fasting Walk

First Baptist Church to hold VBS

First Baptist Church, Hot Springs,, 2350 Central Ave., across from the race track, will hold a Vacation Bible School for both adults and children 6- 8 p. m. Monday through Friday. The theme for both VBSs will be “Journey Off the Map, Unknown to Us, Know to Him” based on Isaiah 30: 21.

Children will take part in crafts, classes and recreation. Snacks will be provided. Adult classes will be on “Black Hole Parenting,” “10- 4 Parenting,” “Media Savvy Parenting” and “Casserole Parenting.”
