FL Alumni Association awards more than $ 15K in scholarships
The Fountain Lake Alumni Association awarded $ 15,050 in scholarships to 19 graduates from the 2015 class at Fountain lake High School.
Amanda Mawhinney was awarded the $ 1,200 Harold Braning Memorial Scholarship to attend Ouachita Baptist University and study elementary education.
Shoshana Wilson was awarded the $ 1,000 Ron Allen Vocational Scholarship to attend National Park College to study automotive technology.
Six other $ 1,000 scholarships were awarded from past classes. Recipients, their future schools and areas of study are Ivan Johnson, Class of 1956, Lyon College, pre- dentistry; Jacob FloriniParker, Class of 1964, University of Central Arkansas, chemistry; Sarah Rountree, class of 1971, Arkansas State University, elementary education; Abigail Rose, Class of 1963, Baylor University, entrepreneurship; Olivia Pratt, Class of 1965, University of Mississippi or Arkansas State, nursing; and Carlee Darnell, Class of 1975, Christian Brothers University, philosophy.
Four scholarships for $ 750 each were awarded by past classes. The recipients of $ 750 scholarships are Arynn Johnson, Class of 1953, Baylor, broadcast journalism; Klovis Tucker, Class of 1961, Harding University, business; Olivia Chaney, Class of 1962, Southern Arkansas University Tech, film production; and Darian Burks, Class of 1966, Central Arkansas, physical therapy.
The six recipients of $ 500 scholarships were Sarah Gilleran, Class of 1969, Arkansas Tech University, secondary English education; Samuel Tabler, Class of 1947/ Class of 1952, National Park College, undecided; Bailey Hughes, Class of 1955, National Park College, secondary history education; Jacob McAndrews, Class of 1958, National park College, graphic design; Hannah Slajer, Class of 1959, Central Arkansas, political science and philosophy; and Derrick Fryar, Class of 1960, national Park College, undecided.
Alexandria Lee was awarded the $ 600 Fountain Lake Alumni Association Scholarship to study nursing at Arkansas Tech.
