Vocal groups join forces for high- energy Broadway revue
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — A bevy of musical acts will join together in a performance of “Give My Regards to Broadway,” set to begin at 7: 30 p. m. Sept. 12 in Woodlands Auditorium, 1101 DeSoto Blvd.
As part of this fast- paced Broadway revue, Little Rock’s Top of the Rock Chorus is sure to wow the audience, a news release said. This 60- woman chorus sings fourpart a cappella style, not only ringing out amazing harmony, but combining stunning costumes, exciting choreography and dynamic energy to provide a truly remarkable performance.
Kelly Causey serves as director. The chorus was chartered in 1961 as a member of Sweet Adelines International. With members from the Little Rock area, Hot Springs Village and Hot Springs, Top of the Rock regularly competes with success against other choruses and is among the foremost groups in the Southwest region, the release said. Membership in the chorus is achieved by audition, and rehearsals are held Tuesdays in Sherwood. The pullout group, Rockstars, steps out from time to time, in addition to occasional quartets and octets.
Sharing the night’s billing will be Fun City Chorus and the Stardust Big Band, with Shirley Chauvin. Additional guest performers include Tommy Priokos and Robert Raines. Area students will also form a chorus, performing alongside the men’s group.
Ken Goodman will act as both master of ceremonies and as soloist with the choruses, the band and in duets with Chauvin.
The entire show is an uplifting and inspiring collection of harmony and fun with familiar tunes from Broadway shows. A portion of the proceeds will benefit scholarship funds for area high school and college students.
Visitors from outside the Village may present their tickets at the gates for admittance. Tickets may be purchased at http:// www. hsvpoa. org/ event- tickets. com, or at the Woodlands. Reserved seats are $ 25 and general admission is $ 15 per person.
