There are a lot of people that take part in recycling, some do it because they want to, while others need extra motivation. If you aren’t regularly participating in recycling, what would it take to motivate you?

Recycling is a process to create new items from old and used materials, helps reduce energy consumption and keeps potentially useful materials from being wasted. Recycling can even save you money in reduced product and manufacturing costs. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle — the amount of solid waste you send to landfills by exploring ways cut back on purchases of new items and seek ways to reuse products you buy. There are many great ideas for items rather than disposing of them like using boxes and other containers for storage or use a plastic bottle to make a bird feeder. When you don’t see a way to reuse a product in your home or office, send it to be when possible.

If you are not currently recycling, it is a great time to start. Contact Solid Waste at 321-6911 to request a container for the Earth Angel Recycling Program curbside collection of newspaper, corrugated cardboard, phone books and aluminum cans.

Last week, Earth Angels of Hot Springs recycled: 106 pounds, aluminum cans; 3,476 pounds, newspaper; 559 pounds, corrugated cardboard; 339 pounds, plastic; 18,320 pounds, yard waste. A total of 11.40 tons of recyclable materials were kept out of the landfill.
