Victim in fatal crash on Highway 70 ID’d

A driver killed Thursday in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 70 west near Pearcy Road has been identified as Arlis D. Fisher, 65, of Bonnerdale, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a preliminary fatality report from Arkansas State Police released late Thursday.

Around 12:30 p.m., Fisher, driving a 2003 Ford pickup, was westbound on Highway 70 when an eastbound 2010 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Jared N. Warford, 24, of Benton, reportedly crossed the centerline and struck Fisher’s pickup.

Both pickups caught fire after the collision and were extinguished by firefighters from the 70 West Fire Department. Warford was injured and transported by LifeNet to CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs for treatment.

Road conditions were clear and dry at the time of the collision, the report said.
