• Local Cuisine! A Culinary Pairing Event — 6-8 p.m. Sept. 17, Magnolia Room.
A culinary exploration into the fall season that will feature the pairing of craft beers, cheeses, and meats from the following local providers: JV Farms, Bismarck; Kent Walker Artisan Cheese, Little Rock; and Superior Bathhouse Brewery, Hot Springs.
While exposing the taste buds to carefully chosen flavor profiles, participants will learn about the collaborative efforts of farmers, brewers and food producers that supply a community with locally sourced goods.
The cost is $40 for members and $70 for nonmembers. Reservations are required. participants on 3-mile hikes along various garden landscapes. Each week will be a different route. Comfortable clothes appropriate for weather and good walking shoes are recommended.

• Plant ID Hikes with Rush Fentress: Members Only — 8-9:30 a.m., Thursdays through mid-November. Participants will meet in the Welcome Center.
It will be a casual hike through the Evans Children’s Adventure Garden and on to the Hixson Nature Preserve, home to dozens of Arkansas’s native plant species. Facilitated by Garvan Director of Education Rush Fentress, participants will be encouraged to share their knowledge of native botanical species while learning from others in this educational community. Hikes will be led at a comfortable, conversational pace.
