Animal Welfare League announces dance event

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — All in the area are welcome to dust off their dancing shoes and join fellow animal lovers at the fourth Dancing With the Villagers event, set for 4:30 p.m. Sept. 20 in the Coronado Community Center, 150 Ponderosa Lane.

This annual fundraiser is held to support the Hot Springs Village Animal Welfare League. All proceeds will be utilized to fund the care and maintenanc­e of homeless pets while they wait for forever homes.

Attendees will be able to enjoy a catered buffet of canapes, then be treated to a demonstrat­ion by profession­al dancers, a competitio­n of local dancers hoping to win votes, and a chance to get out and dance to the music of Marcus Sugg.

A raffle drawing will award cash prizes, and door prizes will also be given away.

General admission tickets are $25 each, and can be purchased online at http://www.hsvtickets­ales.com. Additional­ly, individual tickets can be reserved, along with tables for eight at a cost of $200, by calling Julie Keck at 501-915-9986.

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — The Arkansas Senior Medicare Patrol and its volunteers encourage seniors to prevent health care fraud.

To learn how to protect personal informatio­n, identify and report fraud and errors, and find out more about scams, there will be a free seminar at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Coronado Community Center, 150 Ponderosa Lane. hear, sing along and dance to tunes from genres including pop, country, jazz and blues, hailing from the 1940s into the present.

This evening of entertainm­ent by the popular musical duo is free to attend.

The Village Card Club will be offering the five-hour course “Learn Bridge in A Day?” in September. Students will leave ready to take on a next-level class, or even play in a newcomer game at the club.

Instructio­n is designed especially for newcomers to learn the fundamenta­ls of bridge play, and returning players who need to brush up on their skills.

Available dates to choose from are Sept. 7 or Sept. 10, and both will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Casa de Carta, 1101 DeSoto Blvd.

The cost is $19.99, which includes instructio­nal materials and lunch.

The Hot Springs Village Citizens Police Academy Alumni Associatio­n will hold a fundraiser to purchase a MILO training simulator for the new Police Training and Event Center from 2-6 p.m. Sept. 13 at 301 Balearic Road, the former Fuel Stop building.

Included will be tours, refreshmen­ts and drawings for free 30-minute sessions on the MILO when it becomes available in 2017.
