Steve met with many Russian leaders, including the late Boris Yeltsin.

Steve was a Master of Protocol — everything must be perfect, and resulting in a mentoring position for many. He worked proudly with the World Trade Center and Department of Commerce, and was also a member of the Export Council.

An entrepreneur for many projects, from Alaska’s first Pedicabs for tourism in Anchorage, which later grew to Juneau and other cruise ports.

Steve and his wife of 37 years were the consummate world travelers. Cruising was their passion. Even at this moment, Steve and his devoted wife, Cindy Cheney Smirnoff, are involved with tourism and hospitality projects over seas.

Celebration of life will be held all over the world, where he and his wife traveled and joined by the many friends Steve cherished.

Steve is survived by his best friend and wife, Cindy Cheney Smirnoff; sister-inlaw, Lee Slaymaker and family and precious cousins in California and Canada.

Steve was extremely passionate for all animals, and were you to make a donation, please consider your local or state SPCA.
