Cobras second in district golf

BISMARCK — Fountain Lake’s boys golf team extended its season with a second-place finish Wednesday in the Class 4A-7 tournament here at DeGray Lake State Park.

Mena (249) won by 12 strokes over the Cobras, the Bearcats’ Daniel Davis and Nashville’s Colin Parnell sharing the low score of 79. Junior Montana Carden had an 82, senior Hunter Thompson an 85 and junior Kyle Thomas a 94 for Fountain Lake.

The Class 4A tournament is Oct. 4 in Stuttgart.

Senior golf

BISMARCK — Garland County Seniors Golf Associatio­n conducted its September tournament under a Ryder Cup format Thursday at DeGray Lake State Park.

John Woodward and Jim Moore won the first flight and Jerry Bach and Nestor Doukosian the second flight. Paul Earl and Terry Woods finished second and Rodney Atkinson and Brad Goodroad third in the first flight. Jim Hannon and Michael Esch were second and Robert Doukosian and Grier Corry third in the second flight.

Winning closest-to-thepoin contests were Woodward, Moore, Bill Drews and Ron Skaggs.

Varsity volleyball L. Hamilton-El Dorado

EL DORADO — Lake Hamilton picked up its sixth win in the last seven matches with a 3-0 decision over El Dorado Thursday night, improving to 6-1 in conference and 9-5 overall.

Destiny Raymo led the Lady Wolves with nine kills and Allison Trantham added eight kills and one ace. Jenny Peake finished with seven kills and two aces. Scores were 25-8, 25-13, 25-12.

Halle Teeter had five kills, three digs and one ace as Lake Hamilton’s junior varsity won 25-12, 25-11.

The Lady Wolves travel to Sheridan on Monday before hosting crosstown rival Hot Springs on Tuesday.
