Jessievill­e juniors turn back Bismarck, 30-22

JESSIEVILL­E — B.J. Holloway’s late intercepti­on suppressed a Bismarck fourth-quarter rally and preserved Jessievill­e junior high’s 30-22 victory Thursday night at Phillips Field.

Jessievill­e led 30-6 when James Kegley went to work for Bismarck with a three-yard scoring run and 30-yard touchdown pass to Braden Sheffield and a pair of twopoint conversion­s.

Austin Carl ran for two touchdowns and Dexton Hilton for another as Jessievill­e went up 24-6 at halftime, Kegley passing 24 yards to Bailey Graves for a Bismarck touchdown late in the second period.

Before his game-saving intercepti­on, Holloway returned a punt 48 yards in the third quarter for Jessievill­e’s only second-half scoring.

Hilton completed eight of 16 passes for 102 yards while Carl had 91 yards rushing on 15 carries.

Benton-LHJH

PEARCY — Benton scored two touchdowns with its offense on the sideline and trounced Lake Hamilton’s junior high 42-13 Thursday night.

Curtis Jackson returned a Lake Hamilton kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown, Brian Haskins adding the two-point conversion for an 8-7 Panther lead. That came 13 seconds after Braden Braughton’s 20-yard touchdown run and Jordy Morales’ extra point for Lake Hamilton.

The Panthers led 35-7 at halftime after John Reed’s 82-yard intercepti­on return late in the second quarter. Haskins’ second touchdown pass of the game, four yards to Billy Ray, and the extra point made it 42-7 in the third quarter.

Haskins passed 48 yards to Jackson for a touchdown and connected with Peter Duncan for the two-point conversion that made it 16-7. Benton cashed in fumbles for short touchdown runs by Haskins and Bobby Hill for a 29-7 lead.

Lake Hamilton scored with 5:11 left on Braydn Clark’s 48-yard pass to Joey Kilzer. Braughton carried six times for 71 yards, recorded five tackles and returned kickoffs for 77 yards.

Benton won the eighth-grade game 25-16. Both Lake Hamilton teams are 1-3 and going to Cabot North next week.

Jacksonvil­le-F. Lake

FOUNTAIN LAKE — After an early score by Fountain Lake’s Bryce Stauder, Jacksonvil­le scored 24 straight points to down the Cobras 24-14 Thursday night at Beckham Memorial Stadium.

Stauder’s two-yard touchdown run and Jackson Keese’s ensuing two-point conversion gave Fountain Lake an 8-0 lead at halftime. After touchdown runs from Roshawn Lewis and Ladarius King in the third quarter, Ladarius King connected with his brother Sequoia on a 44-yard touchdown pass to seal the win for the Titans.

Stauder scored from two-yards out late in the fourth quarter for the Cobras.

Fountain Lake, 2-2 overall and 1-0 in 4A-7, goes to Nashville next week.

Volleyball Texarkana-Lakeside

Lakeside’s varsity volleyball team improved to 16-2 with a 2513, 25-10, 25-16 decision Thursday against visiting Texarkana.

Shelby Little recorded seven kills, 16 assists and three aces for Lakeside. Erica Hendrix had 19 digs and Mady Rottinghau­s 10 kills and two solo blocks for the Lady Rams. Callie Dodd and Gaylynn Green recorded six kills, Green with 11 digs, while Hannah Whorton recorded a personal high of 20 assists.

Lakeside turned back Texarkana’s junior varsity 25-3, 25-23, making the Lady Rams 9-3. Macie Hendrix posted five aces and 11 assists and Lindsey Davis five assists and five kills for Lakeside. Miller Dickerson and Shelby Kathcart each had two solo blocks and Daelynn White 12 digs for the Lady Rams.

Lakeside has home matches Monday against Jacksonvil­le, Tuesday against Fountain Lake and Thursday against Camden Fairview.

Fountain Lake-HHG

HASKELL — Fountain Lake started the second half of conference play with a 3-0 victory over host Haskell Harmony Grove Thursday night.

Chloe Ledbetter had three aces among nine service points and six kills in the 25-23, 25-16, 25-17 match. Molly Breshears had 10 kills and 15 assists for Fountain Lake, 11-4 overall and 8-0 in league matches.

Elizabeth Barrett had 15 winning seves for Fountain Lake’s junior varsity in 25-13, 25-23 win over Harmony Grove.

Fountain Lake returns to action Monday at Malvern.

OBU-Arkansas Tech

RUSSELLVIL­LE — In an early-season marquee matchup, Arkansas Tech handed Ouachita Baptist its first Great American Conference loss with a 3-1 victory here Thursday at Tucker Coliseum.

Arkansas Tech freshman Amanda Milnick had her first collegiate triple-double with 13 kills, 24 assists and 13 digs. Sophomore Hunter Eshnaur hit .350 with 17 kills for the Golden Suns (8-6 overall, 3-0 GAC).

Lake Hamilton junior Kori Bullard’s kill gave Ouachita its first lead in the second set, 17-16. Two kills by senior Jayme Shell and freshman Tabatha Huckabee gave the Tigers a 25-22 win after losing the first game 25-18. Tech closed out the match with two games of 25-19.

Fountain Lake senior Ashley Wake had a team-high 20 digs for Ouachita (10-3, 2-1), which hosts the return match with Tech Nov. 10 in the regular-season finale for both teams. Ouachita’s next match is 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at home against Harding.

Bank of the Ozarks Arena in Hot Springs is host to the Great American Conference tournament Nov. 17-19.

* Henderson State lost 3-2 to host Southern Arkansas Thursday in Magnolia, dropping the Reddies to 6-9 overall and 3-2 in the GAC. Henderson faces Arkansas Tech at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Russellvil­le and hosts Ouachita at 6 p.m. Thursday in the volleyball season’s first Battle of the Ravine.
