CBS picks up Hogs-Gators game

- NATE ALLEN Special to The Sentinel-Record

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas’ Nov. 5 game with Florida here at Reynolds Razorback Stadium will kick off at 2:30 p.m. on CBS, it was announced Monday by the Southeastern Conference office in Birmingham, Ala.

It marks Arkansas’ first CBS appearance of the season.

The Razorbacks, 5-3 overall, 1-3 in the SEC West, mercifully get their annual bye week this week coming off Saturday’s 56-3 shellacking at Auburn, the most lopsided conference loss in Arkansas program history.

Arkansas coach Bret Bielema and his assistants met with the players Sunday and reviewed the game film before Bielema and most of the staff went recruiting Monday. The Razorbacks will resume practice today.

Bielema and offensive coordinator Dan Enos and defensive coordinator Robb Smith meet with media before Wednesday’s practice.

The off week should medically benefit junior starting quarterback Austin Allen, who sprained a knee during the second quarter at Auburn and finally exited the lost cause after quarterbacking one series in the fourth quarter, and sophomore starting right tackle Brian Wallace, who also limped out of the game with what appeared to be a foot or ankle injury.

While falling out of the Associated Press and Amway coaches top 25 polls after a 53-point loss, the previously 17th-ranked Razorbacks still received votes in the AP poll.

Florida, 5-1 overall and leading the SEC East at 3-1, is ranked 12th by the AP and 14th by the coaches poll. Coming off their bye week, the Gators play Georgia on Saturday in Jacksonville, Fla.
