Lakeside alum initiated into honor society

BATON ROUGE, LA. — Lakeside High School graduate Tylon Beckwith was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa

Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic discipline­s.

Beckwith was initiated at Mississipp­i State University. About 30,000 students, faculty, profession­al staff and alumni are initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year.

Membership is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors, having at least 72 semester hours, are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, profession­al staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinctio­n.

Lakeside Middle School honor roll additions

Jamie Preston, principal of Lakeside Middle School, has announced students added to the honor roll who were left off the previously released list.

Seventh-grade students who made the honor roll for the first nine weeks of the 2016-17 school year were: All A’s:

Sydney Bars, Trinity Burroughs, Chance Cross, Sayer Hemund, adam Johnson, Annelise McAlister, Ryleigh Moses, Holly Renaud, Adrienne Walton, Presley Kate White, Tarynn Yate.
