DAC announces December speaker
Jo Ellen Maack, curator at the Old State House Museum, will be the featured speaker at the Lt. Samuel Cherry Chapter, Daughters of the American Colonists’ 11 a.m. Thursday meeting at Arkansas Art Museum, Little Rock.
Maack has been the curator for nearly 20 years and is responsible for the development and management of the museum collections. The collections include more than 32,000 artifacts and exhibits, including the First Ladies’ Gowns exhibit at the OSH. This exhibit is the largest exhibit of its kind outside the Smithsonian and the most popular at the museum. The exhibit features gowns worn by the first ladies alongside items of everyday life in Arkansas from the 1840s to the present. The First Ladies’ Gowns exhibit will be her topic.
Membership is open to any woman who is a U.S. citizen, 18 or older, who can prove lineal descent from a man or woman who gave service in one of the original U.S. colonies prior to July 4, 1776. For information regarding DAC email Sheila Beatty at beattykrout@suddenlink.net.
DAV Chapter changes December meeting date
The December meeting of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 5 has moved to 11 a.m. Saturday at Smokin’ in Style BarB-Que, 2278 Albert Pike. The outside entrance to the big room should be open, members do not need to go through the line. Members are welcome to bring their spouse or significant other as a guest; please sign them in on the guest register sheet.
Emblem Christmas party slated for Saturday
Hot Springs Emblem Club 194 will host the Christmas party, Nutcracker Suite and the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies Dinner and Dance, with music by Randy McDonald’s Fab 3. Dinner will be from 5:50-6:30 p.m. Saturday with the dance from 7-10 p.m. at Elks Lodge, 132 Abbott Place.

American Legion Post 13 next meets in February
Hot Springs American Legion Warren Townsend Post 13 will not meet in December or January. The next meeting will be first Monday of February.
